Under 16 Final: Congratulations to St Josephs who claimed the Under 16 Championship title with a comfortable win over a gallant Glencar Manorhamilton team under lights in Cloone on Thursday evening.

Intermediate B Championship: St Josephs qualified for the Semi Final with an extra time 4-15 to 4-8 win over Annaduff on Sunday morning in Dromod. They will meet the winners of the Bornacoola v St Marys game to be played on Sunday at 12.00pm in Fenagh. In the other half of the draw Glencar Manorhamilton defeated Dromahair by 6-7 to 3-9 and will meet Ballinaglera in the other semi final on Sunday week.

 

Division 2 League Final 2006: The St Josephs v Annaduff game also doubled up as the League final from 2006 that had remained unplayed with St Josephs presented with the cup after Sunday mornings game.

 

Division 3 Shield Final: In a very high Scóring encounter on Sunday morning, Gortlettragh had a seven point win over Aughnasheelin on a scoreline of 9 -7 to 7 -6 in Ballinamore to complete the programme for the Junior teams for the year.

 

Division 2 League: Ballinaglera defeated Bornacoola by 1-08 to 1-07 in a very close encounter on Sunday morning as the shield competition also reaches its concluding stages. The shield draw will become clear on Sunday next when Ballinaglera meet Dromahair.

 

All Ireland Champions get a taste of Senior Football in Galway: Leitrim had their first outing as All Ireland Champions when the played Galway in a challenge game on Saturday evening. The occasion was the opening of €1million development including two new playing fields, new stand and floodlights at the Clonbeirne Kilkerrin club, home of Manager Jason Taniane. In a very competitive entertaining game Leitrim enjoyed a 4-4 to 1 -5 win and featured most of the All Ireland winning team and were also joined by some of the stars of the future with Denise Sorohan and Aoife McWeeney getting a taste of the action Aoife Scóring a fine goal. The game was followed by a senior mens challenge betweenÓgalway and Monaghan. The county board would like to thank the Cloonbeirne club for their presentations to the team and their hospitality after the game.

 

VHI Connacht Club Senior Semi Final: Best of luck to Aughawillan as they take Corofin in Leitrim Gaels Community pitch at 2.00pm.

 

Leitrim Underdogs: A number of familiar Leitrim club and county players featured on the programme last Thursday night with Eimear McGlade progressing to the next stage of the trials. Tune in again on Thursday night on TG4 at 9.30pm to see how Eimear gets on.

 

Connacht GAA Writers Award: Congratulations to Maeve Quinn on receiving one of the Connacht GAA Writers Personality of the Month Awards for September. Indeed Maeve also received a glowing tribute from Michael o Muircheartaigh on Saturday evening when he performed the official opening of the pitch in Cloonbeirne. Micheal recalled meeting Maeve in 1984 when he was researching a programme for the Centenary of the GAA to feature one of the largest and smallest clubs in the country and picked St Finbarrs of Cork and Aughawillan of Leitrim.
