Social night

The club held a social night last Saturday in the Clubhouse Bar. Presentations were made on the night by Chairman Kevin Torsney to our Club President Josie Torsney and Vice Presidents John Madden, Terry Leyden and Teddy Loughlin. Club players of the year for 2008 were announced, Ronan Fowley was named Intermediate Player of the Year and Thomas Kelly won Junior Player of the Year. There was also a presentation for our Scór na nÓg instrumental group who won the Leitrim title and to our Scór officer Stephen McInerney. Thanks to all the Scór dancers and musicians who performed on the night and also to Vivian OLoughlin. The U21 medals for 2007 were also presented. Thanks to all our supporters who came along and to Patrick Hugh, Ann and staff for providing their premises and food on the night.

St. Brigids Visit

The St. Brigids Club from Dublin were visiting Dromahair over the weekend and by all accounts they had a great time. We played them in a challenge match on Saturday which St. Brigids won by one point. Thanks to Joe and everyone in the Woodview Inn for looking after St. Brigids on Friday night and to Fergus and staff in Stanfords Inn for looking after both teams after the match on Saturday.

Members Draw

The Members Draw for January took place as well last Saturday in the Clubhouse Bar. The winners were €300 Michael McGoldrick, €200 Lisa McMorrow, €150 Ronan Fowley and €100 Jacinta Torsney. Anyone interested in joining the draw can contact a member of the club executive. To join the draw it costs €20 per month, and members are entitled to full club membership and entry in a monthly draw for €750 in prizes.

Team Gear

We have ordered some new club tops and jackets with our new crest; these will be available to buy in local shops from next weekend.

Celebrity Bainisteoir

The cameras are returning to film training next Sunday, Sunday 22nd Feb, and Sunday 1st March. The cameras will be filming around the village and in local schools on Friday 6th of March before the team depart for Dublin at 2pm. The Cuala club have organised a lot of activities on the day of the match. Our ladies team will play Cuala ladies at 11.30 before the Celebrity Bainisteoir match and our junior team will play their juniors after the match. During the day there will also be bouncy castles, face painting and loads of other entertainment. After the match Cuala have organised an Apres match hosted by Des Cahill.

Match Program

The Cuala club are organising a program for our Celebrity Bainisteoir match and we have to put together some articles for it. If anyone wishes to submit something for the program please let me know. We are also looking for adverts for the program and if any local business wants to place an advert they should contact a member of the executive.
