Mary’s commenced the blitz with a win over Ballinamore and Cluainin won their game against Gortletteragh. Mary’s then played Gortletteragh and won. Cluainin also won their game against Ballinamore. The final was then played with Mary’s showing their dominance against Cluainin. Ballinamore and Gortletteragh played after the final. Please keep an eye on notes for next blitz.

Minor Championship Final

St. Marys Hurling club hosted Cluainin Iomaint in St. Marys GAA pitch last Friday night. Timing of this fixture hindered both clubs with their involvment in the minor football championship. In an entertaining game Marys displayed their dominance early on by Scóring some impressive goals. Cluainin Iomaint were dependant on Under 16 Gavin O Hagan for their scores. Gavin scored 5 points and was very unlucky not to score 3 goals, one of which hit the side netting. Maybe if these goals were scored Cluainin might have had a better chance of containing Marys. Cluainin found it very difficult to get an attack past Thomas Glancy who was instrumental in Marys defence. Thomas was always in the right place to snuff out any chance Cluainin had of Scóring. Well done to Olchan Conway and Daithi Hughes for putting inÓgreat work with St. Marys minor team.

Kilmacud Crokes All Ireland 7s competition

Cluainin Iomaint travelled to Dublin last Saturday and had three very entertaining games against MacCumhaills of Donegal, Coolera/Strandhill (Sligo) and Innishkeen (Monaghan). Cluainin battled well and adjusted quickly to the speedy game in which goals were the difference in each game. In what was a great experience Cluainin will count their involvment in this competition as great preparation to take on St Marys in the semi final of the Championship on October 1st.
