Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 13/02/2018

Minors – Division 2 of the league gets underway on Saturday next when Rinn Gaels make the long trip North to face Melvin Gaels; throw-in is at 12noon.
Club Grounds of the Year – The Club was honoured to be named as the Leitrim Club Grounds of the Year at last week’s annual County Board awards night. Well done to our hardworking grounds committee on picking up their second award of the year.
Indoor Nursery Programme – Over 60 underage players attended our skill and agility sessions on Saturday morning last in Mohill. A big thank you to the coaches for a great morning’s activity and to all of the parents for bringing their children along. There are still some available spaces for the coming Saturdays, so if you are interested, contact Suzanne (087 3898205) or Trevor (087 867 7206) to book a place. Finally our thanks to Enda Lyons, Leitrim GAA Development officer, for his guidance and assistance.
Texas Hold Em – Please note that our Texas Hold ‘Em night takes place this Saturday, 17th February in our Clubhouse. Doors open at 8.30pm and play gets underway at 8.45pm. Refreshments will be served on the night – only €20 to play, plus buy backs. All welcome.
Sympathy – Our sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the late Gus Guckian, a member of the Fenagh St Caillins club and formerly of Liscloonadea. Gus played for Bornacoola in the 80’s and is fondly remembered by his former teammates and those involved with the club at the time. We also extend our sympathies to the Phelan family, Carrick on Shannon, on the passing of Paddy, a great Gael and hurling disciple; a number of Bornacoola players over the years benefitted from Paddy’s coaching and managerial skills as he oversaw the campaigns of many Leitrim senior hurling and underage teams. Ar dheis Dé go raibh siad beirt.
This is Your Life – A date for your diary and our main fundraiser for 2018, hot on the heels of the huge success that was the Late Late Show last year, the club will be hosting a This is Your Life evening in Lough Rynn on Saturday March 31st at 8pm. There will be a cheese and wine reception on the night; admission will be just €10 and it promises to be a wonderful night full of fun, entertainment and nostalgia. You never know, it could be you!!
