Cloone GAA Club Notes 26/03/2018

BATTLE OF THE TOWNLANDS – There were huge celebrations in Streamstown at the weekend as their Quiz team was declared the champions of the parish when they won the ‘Battle of the Townlands’ quiz held in Creegan’s on Saturday night last. The team led by captain Sean Doherty and included Rita Woods, Fiona Woods, Conor Woods, with Mel Woods as team manager. Fiona and Conor claimed eligibility under the GAA parentage rule. The quiz was a great success with 22 tables, and the club is very grateful to all the townlands who participated and raised much-needed funds for the club.

SWAN BAR DIVISION 4 – Our junior team had another great victory on Saturday evening last when they defeated St Mary’s on a scoreline of 1 12 to 1 10. Well done to all involved. LOTTO – The club lotto draw will take place this week end with the jackpot at € 5,200.00. Supporters are asked to continue to support the Lotto draw as it is the main source of income for the club.

ALLIANZ NATIONAL LEAGUE – Leitrim had a good victory over Wicklow on Sunday last in Páirc Sean Mac Diarmada in what looks like the last National Football League match of the 2018 league campaign. Next up is likely to be the Connacht Championship match versus New York in Gaelic Park, the Bronx, USA.
