Melvin Gaels GAA Club Notes 04/06/2018

La na gClubanna – Thanks to everyone who supported and everyone who helped in organising La na gClubanna on Saturday last in Melvin Park. It was a great “Funday for All”. The “Guess the Weight of the Lamb” was won by Diarmuid Mc Gowan, Kinlough and joint winners of the Raffled Pig were Cormac Mc Gurran and Anthony Mc Gowan. Thanks to all who supported these draws.

Senior League v Mohill – On Saturday evening in Melvin Park the Senior team took on Senior Champions Mohill in the League this turned out to be a good entertaining, game ending in a draw, Melvin Gaels 0-17, Mohill 1-14, which both sides would claim they could have won. The Gaels performed well and well deserved the draw. Well done to all the players and mentors.

Under 15 Shield Final – On Friday evening last the Under 15s were beaten by the narrowest of margins by Fenagh in the Shield final in Melvin Park. These young lads played some excellent football and were very unlucky to lose the game. Nevertheless, the future looks bright for this young group of players. Well done to all involved.

50/50 Draw – The winner of last week’s draw was, Jackie Keegan, Mohill, Jackie won €209. Get your ticket now for this week’s draw. You can now play 5050 as a Direct Debit or Annual Ticket. Make Your Mark on the Park Development Fundraising – The work of the Community Development Project will be starting very soon. Melvin Gaels Club is assisting with the fundraising which has started. All Club members, ex-club members, players and ex-players are asked to help in the fundraising which will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, your name on a commemorative plaque. Everyone knows that the facilities at Kinlough are not up to the standards needed to facilitate the Melvin Gaels Club. The Club has been successful over the years on the playing field and we want the facilities planned in this project to match this success. With the help of all the Community, this can happen!

Big Bingo Winner – Congratulations to Mary Clancy, Edenville, Kinlough who won the €1,000 prize in the Bank Holiday Bingo on Monday night which was run for the Development Project.
