Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 14/07/2018

Senior & Junior A Championships – Well done to our senior team who recorded their 3rd win in the senior championship campaign over Bornacoola in Ballinamore at the weekend.  They have no game this weekend as attention turns to the Junior A Championship with our lads playing Melvin Gaels at 7pm in Glencar Community Park on Saturday evening at 7pm.  Please make the short journey to support the team in this local derby.

Senior Ladies – Our Senior Ladies take on neighbours Dromahair in the Championship Semi-Final this Sunday morning at 11am in Park Sean MacDiarmada, Carrick on Shannon. In a repeat of the Senior League Final it promises to be an extremely tight, hard fought affair with a position in the county decider at stake. Best of luck to the girls and their management team. Please show your support on the day.

Annual Club Camp – There is a record attendance at our Club Football Camp this week and an astonishing 30 plus volunteer coaches and helpers on hand.  Check out our Facebook page for photos and a more detailed report will follow next week.

50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be ran throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.

Wedding Bells – A number of our players were in Kerry last week attending the wedding of former teammate and club player Jak Dallen who married Anna O’Donoghue in Cahersiveen.  We wish Jak and Anna many years of health and happiness.

U8/U10 Girls – On Saturday morning last our Under 8 & Under 10 girls welcomed teams from Fenagh, St Mary’s, Calry St Joseph’s and Dromahair to the Bee Park for a morning of fun and football.  Approximately 85 girls attended the blitz, with four pitches running throughout the morning with six teams at U10 level and four teams at U8 level.  The sun shone for the morning and with a feast of football on show the girls earned a well deserved break mid-morning.  With plenty of excellent skills on show and more importantly an abundance of smiling faces, the future is bright for Ladies football in the North West. Thanks to the players, managers and supporters for coming.  In addition days like this would not be possible without the help and support of our own Club members and players, most notably chief event organisers, Bernie McMorrow, Dermot McMorrow and Fidelma Loughlin. Thanks also to our players’ parents who donated the sweet treats, Gurn’s Milestone Bar for the delicious sandwiches and crisps,  Gerry Mawn Fruit and Veg who supplied fresh fruit for all the teams and to Gerry, John and Paul in the Bee Park Community Centre for the use of their catering equipment , Manor Rangers F.C. for the use of their dressing rooms, the referees from our Senior Ladies Team and Sheila and her catering team, Maeve, Niamh and Aoibhe  who kept everyone  fed and watered.
