Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 04/12/2018

U16 Girls Championship Final – Unfortunately the scheduled Cup Final against Ballinamore did not place last Sunday as the pitch in Leitrim Village was deemed unplayable due to torrential rain just before throw in.  It was certainly disappointing for both teams and their supporters but with player welfare of paramount importance – the right call was made.  No details as yet of the re-fixture but do keep an eye on our Facebook Page.  We wish Tommy, Martin, Dolores, Christina and all the girls the very best of luck.  Please show your support to them on County Final Day.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.

Club Lotto – The Glencar Manor Club Lotto draw took place in Killasnett Co Op on 27/11/18.  Numbers drawn 6, 13, 18, 28.  There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,600. The winners of €30 were Geraldine Glancy – yearly ticket (Cornastalk), Pat Dolan (Newtownmanor), Marian Higgins (Manorhamilton), Sean Meehan (Clooneen), Mary Gilhooley (Park Road).  The Jackpot now stands at €4,675. Thank you for your continued support.

Christmas Lights – Manorhamilton is certainly dazzling with Christmas Lights – full credit to all concerned.

New Arrival – Many congrats to Bridget and Paul Clancy on the safe arrival of their baby boy Cathal recently.

Club Academy/U9s/U11s – Our Club Football Academy, U9 and U11 training will take place this Friday night at St Clare’s Comprehensive School. Times will be notified to parents.

Match for Mark – The annual Match for Mark game between St Mary’s of Sligo and Glencar/Manorhamilton returns again this year on St Stephen’s Day.  Keep the date free, dust down the boots and see you in Kent Park for what has always been a great social occasion and opportunity to support a local charity in memory of St Mary’s and Glencar Manor’s former player Mark Rooney.  Details are being finalised and full fixture details will be issued shortly.

Engagement – We offer hearty congrats to our former senior player Adrian O’Flynn and his girlfriend Amy Brick who announced their engagement recently.  We wish Adrian and Amy many years of health and happiness together.

Sympathy – We offer heartfelt sympathy to Berni McManus (Glenfarne) and her family following the sad passing of her father Larry McGrath, Lacoon, Glenfarne.  We also extend our deepest sympathies to Niamh Clancy and the Clancy family, Tullaghan following the very sad passing of David Clancy, Tullaghan.  May their gentle souls rest in peace.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. We are also trying to compile the names of all club officers/managers/club award winners since the club was formed – so if you were an officer/manager/award winner – please forward any information you can.  Please email any correspondence you have to glencarmanorladies@gmail.com.

Pitch Bookings – All pitch bookings for the Bee Park and Boggaun are to be made through Patrick McMorrow.  Patrick can be contacted on 0868973339.
