Gortletteragh GAA Club Notes 20/12/2018

SANTAS vs ELVES RETURNS DEC 26TH – Gortletteragh GAA grounds will again host the annual Santas vs Elves charity match on St Stephens Day. Last year’s match was a huge success raising over €1,700 for University Hospital Galway Oncology Unit. This year all proceeds will go to the Leitrim / West Cavan branch of Down Syndrome Ireland. Players of past and present are welcome to take sides in the battle and join in on the day. Throw in is at 2pm. Admission is optional. Everyone invited and encouraged to come along and show their support. Players interested in taking sides on the day get in touch with Darren or Terry.

AGM – The Club AGM was held last Thursday night and was well attended. Excellent reports were delivered by our secretary and treasurer and all sitting officers were returned to their positions for 2019. Lots of progress and initiatives planned for 2019 so keep up to date by following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Congratulations – Congratulations to one of our stalwart forwards Conor Reynolds, Gortletteragh, and Fiona McLoughlin, Tavneena, Charleston, Co. Mayo, who were engaged last week. Conor has represented the club and indeed Leitrim at Minor and U21 level with distinction for many years and we all you the best in the preparations for your big day.

Key of the Door – Congratulations to another stalwart club player Conor Woods who celebrated his 21st in the Welcome Inn at the weekend. Many happy returns Conor.

Underage Medal Presentation – Monaghan GAA All Star Rory Beggan was on hand on Sunday evening to present our championship winning U15 and U13 teams with their medals. The U12 Cross Border Team also received their Plate Winners Medals on the night. Rory gave a brilliant talk on the evening and Santa even made an appearance to the delight of our younger supporters. Thanks to the coaching committee and everyone involved in the organising of the event.

Merry Christmas – Seasons Greetings to all our members, players, coaches, supporters parishioners and anyone connected with the club at home and abroad. Here’s to a peaceful holiday season and prosperous 2019.

Thanks – To John Connolly and Staff at the Leitrim Observer for their sports coverage of our teams and facilitation of our weekly notes throughout 2018.
