Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 07/01/2018

5K Walk – Why not come out and join with Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club in association with Get Ireland Walking and Operation Transformation for our 5k walk starting Thursday 17th January at 7pm for 6 weeks. Each participant must register at the Dressing Rooms in the Bee Park before each walk. We look forward to welcoming you all on the night.  Let’s do this together!

Fair Play Ado – Our former senior footballer Adrian O’Flynn is doing a one minute swim in the lake/sea every day in January to raise much needed funds for our new pitch development.  Check out our Facebook Page for the very amusing videos and to see how you can support.  We commend Adrian for coming up with this initiative, for braving the cold waters on our behalf and to everyone for who is supporting him and our club by making very generous donations.

FBD League – Leitrim put in a mighty performance to draw with Mayo in the Connacht FBD League on Sunday.  Unfortunately, they exited the competition when losing out on penalties.  The club was represented on the panel by Evan Sweeney, Niall Brady and James Rooney.  Well done lads.

New Arrival – Hearty congrats to our senior ladies footballer Cammie McPartland and her husband Damian on the safe arrival of their baby boy last week.

Brian Mulvey RIP – Glencar Manor GAA extend deepest sympathy to the family of the late Brian Mulvey, Carrick on Shannon.   Brian was a very welcoming face in Pairc Seán and will be sadly missed by Leitrim supporters and most especially by his many friends in his beloved St Mary’s GAA Club.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

Registration Night – We will be holding our two Registration Nights for all players and supporters to pay their membership for the 2019 season on Friday 8th and Friday 15th of February from 6.30 to 8pm upstairs in the Gym at St Clare’s Comprehensive School.  All club players must pay their membership before the last day of February in order to train and play with the club.

2019 Membership Rates – Membership rates for the 2019 season are as follows:  U10 Girls & Boys –  €30 for 1st Child & remaining family members at this age group €20 each. U11 Boys – €30, U12 to U18 Girls – €40, U13 to U18 Boys -€40, Adult Players – €80 and Social Members – €30. Heinz Beans Tokens – We are asking our club members and all underage parents to collect Heinz Beans tokens. If we have enough tokens our underage boys and girls teams could benefit with sports kits. The closing date is the 15th February, 2019.

Old Club Jerseys – We are looking for people to search out their wardrobes, garages and attics in search of old club jerseys which were used by our adult and juvenile football and hurling teams in the club (male and female) in the following decades – the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s.  They are needed for our 50th club celebrations.  Please contact Collette Fox asap on 0866020192 if you can assist.

Ladies Club History – In preparation for our club’s 50th anniversary in 2019, the ladies club are looking to dig out all old photos, match programmes, newspaper clippings or any other club memorabilia to help prepare a detailed history of the history of the ladies club. We are also trying to compile the names of all club officers/managers/club award winners since the club was formed – so if you were an officer/manager/award winner – please forward any information you can.  Please email any correspondence you have to glencarmanorladies@gmail.com.
