Senior Team Management – The club would like to take this opportunity to pass on our sincere thanks to our senior management team who have made the decision to step down. We would like to thank Manager Paul Prior and his selectors Jason Kellett, Sean McCartin, Paddy Prior and Joe Feeley for the tremendous work they have done for the club over the last three years. During this time we have won an intermediate championship, played in Semi Finals of the senior championship and contested the league final. The management team hhasdone fantastic work developing a group of fine young men into a team that has grown in stature and belief during their time in charge. The brand of football they have developed and instilled in the team was exciting to watch and helped draw new and old down to the Páirc.  We would like to thank them for the time, effort and dedication they have shown the club and wish them well in the future.

Underage Amalgamation – It was announced recently at a club meeting that our underage teams comprising the under 13, 15’s and 17’s would amalgamate with Kiltubrid GAA. The new team will be called Seàn MacDiarmada Gaels with the colours black and amber and the St Bridget’s cross as a crest. Black and amber represent the original Leitrim GAA colours and the St Bridgets cross is symbolic of both Ballinamore and Kiltubrid. We would like to wish the new club well for the coming season and encourage anyone that would like to assist in the set up of the new amalgamation to make themselves known.

Dunnes Bar Senior League Final – Hard luck to the team and management, they put up a very brave fight and performed well on Sunday. The luck was not with us from the start conceding a penalty after a couple of minutes which Philip brilliantly saved only for the rebound to bounce around before being forced in, Philip was again on hand not long later with a world class save, and again only moments later Glencar scored a goal. The lads did well and continued to fight hard and early in the second half we were level. Philip was called to action again with a harsh penalty which he again saved, this lifted the supporters and the team and we kept pushing forward only to concede. In the end the gap was 4 points and Glencar were champions.

A special thanks to the players and management team, it’s been a long hard season for you and we appreciate the effort and sacrifices you have made to help the club reach the final and to progress this year. Defeats are hard to take but as we saw after loosing two intermediate finals they can often be a spring board for something great and hopefully our time will come

Connacht Gold Senior Championship – Our senior team were in action on Saturday against Glencar Manor in our quarterfinal replay, the match ended with Manor coming out on top by a score of 1:21 to 1:06. It was a tough end to this year’s senior championship with the lads giving it their all but failing to hit the levels of the previous week. There was a lot of disappointment at the end but the lads should take heart in their run so far this year where they have served up some great football.  It’s easy to forget that our lads  are young and that you’re playing  a team that’s made a habit of winning championships with a wealth of experience. Hopefully the lads can dust themselves down and put this defeat down to experience and come back stronger next season. Best wishes on a speedy recovery to Peter Reynolds who was injured in the match

Ladies Minor Championship Winners – A huge congratulations to our St Felim’s minor ladies who put on one of the best team performances of 2018 to halt Glencar/Manorhamilton’s three-in-a-row Championship bid on a scoreline of 4-13 to 3-6. It was a tough, close fought game throughout in which we trailed by a point at half-time but despite a brilliant start to a second half – we scored 1-3 to Manor’s solitary point within the first five minutes to lead by four – nine minutes later the opposition had put away 2-2 to no score and all of a sudden we were in arrears by four. However, over the final quarter of the game our girls we absolutely outstanding, driving home an unanswered 3-5 to lift the cup. It’s impossible to name names after such a wonderful display of football and massive credit goes to the whole panel, from number one to thirty-plus, for their efforts over the past couple of years. They are a credit to our clubs and get a chance to showcase their ability once again on the weekend of the 20th/21st October in the Connacht semi-final. Day, time, venue & opposition to be confirmed.

Connacht Gold Senior Championship – The lads were in action on Saturday in Paric Sean against Glencar Manor in a titanic match to determine who would progress to the Semi Finals. It was a great a game with the lads putting in a big performance for the large crowd that were in attendance. It was a game that had it all with great scores from both teams, end to end football. And a fantastic point to level the score in injury time. Hopefully as many of you as possible can get to the replay in Pairc Sean on Saturday at 17:30, it promises to be a mighty match with the winners playing Mohill in the semi final.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery to Keelan McHugh who was injured in the match

They put in a great performance against a very good Leitrim Gaels team but were unable to progress to the semi-final losing the game 2:14 to 0:10. Connacht Gold Senior Championship – The lads were in action on Saturday in Pairc Sean against Mohil in a match to determine the final positions in the table and establish who are opponents would be in the quarterfinals. It was a tough game played in difficult conditions with Mohill winning the match with a score of 0:14 to 1:07.  Newtowngore Engineering U17 – Our u17 lads were in action on Monday evening in Pairc Sean in the County Final against St Mary’s. The lads worked very hard and gave their all on the pitch but were unable to stop a very experienced and strong St Marys team. The match ended with a score of  1:07 to 1:23. All credit to the lads for showing a great deal of courage on the pitch, they continued to fight for every ball right up until the death, this is a young Ballinamore team with the majority of them still able to tog out next season at this level, defeats are difficult to deal with at anytime and hopefully this one will push the lads on for next season.
