Get Well – We wish Gavin Reynolds a speedy recovery from a very serious injury he received during the championship match on Sunday last. Gavin was hospitalised as a result of the injury, hopefully, he will be out soon and on the road to recovery

Championship – On Sunday next the Smith’s Monumentals Leitrim Intermediate Championship resumes when Cloone and Aughavas go head to head in Pairc Shean ó Heslin Ballinamore at 12 noon. Not sure if it’s all ticket but it is sure to attract a huge crowd as those traditional rivals fight to make it to the business end of the Championship. Hopefully, we can build on the performance against Ballinaglera and collect two very valuable points in this encounter. Best of luck to team and management.

Championship – We were defeated in the first round of the Smiths Monumentals Intermediate Championship on Saturday evening last by Drumkeerin in Drumshanbo. It was a tightly contested affair and could have gone either way, but Drumkeerin prevailed in the finish, by 1 10 to 0 09. On Saturday evening next we play Fenagh St Caillins in Ballinamore at 5 30 pm. All panel members are asked to be available for this vital game.

St Mary’s Park – Once again we have plenty of action in the Park at the weekend with activities getting underway on Friday evening when Ballinaglera play Leitrim Gaels at 8 30 in the Smiths Monumentals Intermediate Football Championship. On Saturday evening there are two games in the Connacht Gold Senior football Championship when Bornacoola play Aughnasheelin at 5 30, and Ballinamore Sean O Heslins play Drumreilly at 7 pm. On Sunday we have two games, when Ballinamore Sean O Heslins take on Kiltubrid in the Smith’s Monumentals Intermediate Championship at 12 noon, while at 1 30 Leitrim Gaels take on St Mary’s in the Pyramid Bookmakers junior B Football Championship. Once again stewards are asked to available.

Smith Monumentals IFC – Our championship campaign starts on this Saturday evening when we play Drumkeerin in Drumshanbo at 7 pm. We are drawn in a strong group, with Drumkeerin playing in Division One, but if we can repeat some of the great performances of recent times we could be off to a good start. All panel members are asked to be present. We appeal to our supporters to travel and support the team as a first-round win would be a great start.

St Mary’s Park – It’s a busy weekend in the park with activities starting on Friday evening when Allen Gaels take on Bornacoola in the first round of the Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior football championship. On Saturday evening Aughavas and Leitrim Gaels get activities underway at 5 30 in the Smith’s Monumentals Leitrim Intermediate championship, with Sean O Heslin’s and Gortletteragh completing the bill at 7pm in the senior championship. On Sunday we host Mohill and Annaduff at 12 noon in the Intermediate Championship. Stewards are asked to be available for all three occasions.

Dunnes Bar ACL DIV 2 – We had a busy time on the football fields over the last week with three games within the week. On Wednesday evening last we had a good win over Bornacoola on a scoreline of Cloone 3 13 Bornacoola 2 06. Cloone lined out as follows C Casey. Sympathy – Cloone GAA Club would like to extend its sincere sympathy to the Kennedy family Finniskill Mohill on the death of Mary Kennedy recently. Mary was the heart and soul of Mohill GAA and devoted all her energy in promoting all that was good about the club. To her husband John, daughter Roisín, sons Sean, Ciaran, and Ronan we extend our sincere sympathy.

Congratulations – Belatedly we extend our heartiest congratulation to Sean Tiernan who was a member of the Longford Slashers hurling team who won their section in Feile na Gael recently. Sean is no stranger to Cloone as he is a son of Shane and Rachquel formerly Cloone and nephew of Leitrim Central Council delegate Enda. Sean is also a very versatile footballer as well. Well done to Sean and his teammates.

LEITRIM GAA – Leitrim got a satisfactory draw on Monday morning last when they were pitted against Louth. The game will be played on the weekend of June 23/ 24 and will be played in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada, Carrick on Shannon, as teams from division four will have home advantage. This is certainly a game that Leitrim will fancy their chances.

DUNNE’S BAR DIV 4 – Our Div 4 team drew with Kiltubrid on Sunday last in Kiltubrid in a high scoring game, with the final score at 2 16 to 1 19.

Dunnes Bar Div 2 League – We had no game at the weekend as Melvin Gaels conceded points. Next up this week end its Annaduff and all players are asked to be present.

Connacht Championship – Leitrim bowed out of the Connacht championship at the semi-final stage on Saturday evening last at the hands of Roscommon on a score of 24pts to 10 pts. This is the third year in a row that Roscommon have overcome Leitrim as they now progress to try and retain their Connacht Championship title on Sunday June 17th.

Under 15 – Mohill under 15’s featuring 6 Cloone Players qualified for the under 15 County final by virtue of a great win last week over Glencar Manorhamilton on a scoreline of 5 10 to 05. They now play Allen Gaels in the final and Cloone GAA would urge all supporters to come and cheer the boys. Well done to the team and in particular to the six Cloone boys on the team.

Terry McCormack Cycle – Our club has been honored to host a stage of the Terry Mc Cormack memorial cycle which took place last weekend. Its three years since Terry’s tragic passing and the cycle passing through our parish is a fitting tribute to a true gentleman and a GAA Legend. We would like to acknowledge correspondence from Marie McCormack on behalf of the McCormack family acknowledging our association with the event over the last three years.

Congrats – We would like to extend our sincere congratulations to team player Declan Brennan and Claire Reynolds Mohill who announced their engagement recently in Dubai. With the championship coming up Declan we would love to have you back contesting a place.

Connacht Under 17 FC –We would like to extend our best wishes to the Leitrim under 17 team who start the under 17 Connacht Championship campaign on this Wednesday evening against Mayo in McHale Park Castlebar at 8 p.m. Our club will be represented by our up and coming star Niall Keegan Faughill, and we wish him and the Leitrim the best of luck. We urge all supporters to make the trip to Castlebar to support our stars of the future.
