Under 13’s – Our under 13 team were unfortunately Defeated by Fenagh last weekend.

Referees Wanted – Leitrim GAA is currently recruiting new referees.  If you or know of someone who would be interested in taking up this role there is training on March 9th in the Bush Hotel at 8 o clock. Condolences – We were deeply saddened to hear of the untimely passing of Damien McKeon on Sunday 11th. We express our sincere sympathy to his wife Marian, his children Cian, Ríona and Fionnan, His parents Ben and Peggy, brother Keiran, sisters Barbara, Jeannette and Mairead, brothers-in-law and sister in law, relatives, neighbours and many friends. Damien’s passing is a huge blow to the village of Keshcarrigan where he was well known for helping out behind the family bar. Damien will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as one of life’s true gentlemen. May he Rest In Peace.

Condolences – On behalf of all at the club we offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Gus Guckian who passed away peacefully recently. Gus was one of our former club players who helped to shape the club as it is today. Those who knew him will remember his playing days and his friendly demeanour. May he Rest In Peace.

Underage Fixtures – Our under 13 played their first fixture last weekend. Unfortunately, the result didn’t go their way even though they had a very strong display. This Sunday the 25th they are playing our neighbours St Caillins in Fenagh at 12 noon. Please show your support for our future footballers.

NFL Competition – Well done to Lisa Mulligan who is our Round 3 winner of our NFL  Predictions Competition.  Liam wins a prize of €50. All postponed games from round 3 were marked null and void as per our rules.

Lip Sync Legends night – Park Fundraiser – Kiltubrid GAA & Kiltubrid Ladies GAA are excited to announce that we will be holding a Lip Sync Legends Night on Sat 17th November 2018 in The Landmark Hotel

Allianz League Leitrim v Limerick- Good luck to our County Seniors and their management team as they take on the men from Limerick next weekend. Div 4 has proven over the years that it’s as competitive as the higher divisions. This young panel of players deserve our patience and continued support going forward. Supporters club tickets are on sale throughout the county. Our club has an allocation to sell. Please continue to support if you can as the club will have to buy any unsold tickets. The prizes are generous and your support could land you a nice surprise on the night of the draw.

Belated New Year Wishes – Happy belated New Year to all our players, coaches, supporters and neighbours. All the best for 2018 from all at the club.

St Stephen’s Day Charity Game – Our annual Charity game was competitive considering some players were feeling a little worse for wear. The over 25’s roared into a commanding lead by halftime but the under 25’s superior fitness showed with a strong comeback in the second half. Unfortunately for them, the over 25’s experience won out in the end by a slim 2 points.
We raised 600 euro for the Simon community and donated 30 euro to the walk in memory of Lorraine lynch that also took place on St Stephens Day in Drumshanbo. Thanks to all who braved the cold to watch the game and thanks to Geraldine and the girls for making tea for all who attended.

Poker – Thank you to everyone who supported a great night’s Poker in the Cardiff’s Lakeside Bar.  After an epic battle, Mickey Earley claimed first prize over Romychito Galang and Kevin Meehan in second and third respectively.  Well done to those who organized the tournament and thank you to our hosts Eilis & James Cardiff for their as ever great hospitality on the night.  All funds raised will go directly to new gym equipment for Kiltubrid GAA.

Want to Improve your Irish? – 

Irish conversation classes, or Ciorcal Comhrá, will start again in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday, 9 January 2018 at 8.00pm. There are separate groups for relative beginners, for those who have some Irish and for those who are fluent. These classes are a great opportunity to practice the Irish you know and to improve it. Also, Leaving Cert or transitional year students will find it useful for practice for their Irish orals. Classes are free and will run for 10 weeks to mid-March. Park Development Meeting – With the recent successful grant of €75000 for an upgrade of the Pairc Cill Tiobraid Playing Surface we are holding a meeting on Sat 13th January at 7.30pm in Cardiff’s, Drumcong.  Everyone who uses the Park in any way is encouraged to attend on the night as we look to plan a Fundraising Event to offset the additional costs outside the grant figure for the Development of the Playing Surface and general Park Facilities.  All ideas and Input are very welcome at this meeting as we undertake this major Park Development.

Condolences – Condolences to the family of Michael Sweeney who recently passed away in Galway. His funeral took place on the 30th of December. Michael lived in Keshcarrigan before moving to Galway over forty years ago. For those that don’t know he was a pivotal figure in promoting the GAA in Kiltubrid parish. He motivated many of the younger footballers in the sixties to get involved in football. His love of the Gaelic culture drove him to encourage many young lads at that time to participate in their club underage teams. He helped to shape the club to the way it is today. May he Rest In Peace.

 Congratulations – A huge Congratulations to our own club legend Brian Foley, who was a contestant on Winning Streak at the weekend. Brian did us all proud with a spin of the wheel that seemed to keep on turning! It should be a great Christmas for those around Kilclare!

Kiltubrid GAA AGM – This took place on Saturday night last at the pitch. There was a good attendance and very productive. The new Committee for 2018 was also voted on at the AGM.

Drumcong NS – Drumcong NS is taking part in the Cumann na mBunscol Hurling Pilot Programme at the moment. Children are learning the basics of hurling and some classes will attend a hurling blitz before Christmas. Children can purchase hurls and/or helmets which are subsidised by Cumann na mBunscol and the county board. For more info about this programme or hurling equipment, please contact Micheál McKiernan in the school.

Gaeltacht Scholarships – Leitrim Co Board GAA is offering grants for attendance at Gaeltacht courses to Leitrim boys and girls as part of their promotion of an Ghaeilge. These grants are open to registered members of Leitrim GAA clubs, boys or girls.  Some of the grants are part-sponsored by Gaeltacht colleges. In the case of cash grants, when students return they can claim their grant money on production of evidence of having successfully completed the course.  Application forms can be printed from the Leitrim GAA website www.leitrimgaa.ie by searching Gaeltacht Scholarships 2018 or can be had had from the Secretary of any GAA club. Kiltubrid ExPat Guest of Honour – Congrats to former Kiltubrid footballer Joe McGirl who was recently honoured as the “Guest of Honor” at the Rocklands GAA Pavilion Dance on Sat 14th October in New York.  Joe’s outstanding service to the Rocklands Club is a mark of the man who has taken his GAA roots to his adopted City by immersing himself in the ongoing development at Rocklands GAA on and off the field of play.  Well done Joe.
