Division 4 – The division 4 team started their league campaign with a comprehensive victory over Eslin on Saturday last. They have no game this weekend.

Underage 13/17- Our underage teams enjoyed success at all levels at the weekend. The under 17-team saw off Gortletteragh 2-11 to 2-06 on Sunday. The under 13’s played Sunday as well and had too much for Glenfarne Kityclogher winning 7-12 to 1-01.

Division 4 – The division 4 team start off adult football for the year on Saturday next when they take on Eslin away in Eslin at 4:30pm. Best of luck to manager Peter Goldrick and team.

Underage 13/17- The under 17 team continued their league campaign on Saturday and suffered their first loss of the league campaign against a stronger Melvin Gaels team. The under 13’s were in action on Sunday aswell. They played St Josephs and got their first win of the year.

Underage Girls – Training continues for under 10 and 12 girls on Friday evenings, at 6pm in the hall at the clubhouse. Bring runners.

They played a very good Drumkeeran team and came out on the wrong side of the result. Lotto – The Leitrim Gaels Community Development Lotto Draw was held in Donnellan’s 12th February. The numbers drawn were 7,13,17,26. There was no jackpot winner. The €20 winners were Desmond Rooney, Miriam Donnelon, Denis McBride and Mary Finnegan. The next draw will be held in the Leitrim Inn on 26th February. The Jackpot is €7,700.

Allen Gaels Mothers and Others are holding a pre-registration night this Friday 8th Feb at The Mayflower at 6pm. The emphasis is on enjoyment – not competition. It’s open to any ladies from the surrounding areas who want to play. All are welcome regardless of ability.

American Tea Party – The Village Spot Festival are holding an American Tea Party as a fundraiser on Saturday the 26th of January 2019 at 8pm in Leitrim Gaels Community Field Clubhouse. Music on the night will be by the great Mickey Clerkin. There will be great prizes available on the night. This will be one of a few fundraisers for the revival of The Village Spot Festival which is planned for August Bank a Holiday weekend. There are a limited number of tables available. Underage Presentation – The underage presentation of medals to the Under 13, 15 and 17 teams took place on Saturday last in the clubhouse. The medals were presented by Aidan Flynn and Colm Moreton. The under 12 team were runners-up in the Longford/Leitrim League. The under 13 team were runners-up in the 15 aside Championship after being unbeaten in the round robin stage. The under 15 team won the 15 a side Leauge Shield. The under 17 team won the 15 Division 1 Championship Shield Final. Well done to Donal Casey who received the Under 17 player of the year. Leirim Gaels Community Field Lotto – There were 2 draws held in the last few weeks. On the 18th December, the Christmas draw was held in Donnellan’s. There was no Jackpot winner. Winners of €50 each were Isla Treacy Drumshanbo, Evelyn Doran Finisklin, Padraig Sweeney Drumshanbo and Eileen Murray Waterfront Apartments. The winners of Bottles of Whiskey were Eileen Murray Waterfront Apartments and Maura Guckian Kiltoghert. The first draw of 2019 was held on 2nd January in the Leitrim Inn. There was again no winner of the Jackpot. Winners of €20 were Isla Treacy Drumshanbo, Peter Keaveney Ballinaboy, Jimmy&Thomas c/o Gerry Spellman, Brian Marian & Alan Carty Drumshanbo. The next draw is on the 15th January in Donnellan’s with a Jackpot of €7550.

Leitrim Community Facilities – The Leitrim Community facilities National Lottery Scheme draw for the paid-up members was held on 23rd December after Mass in St Joseph’s Centre. Leitrim Seniors – Leitrim senior team hard-fought game coming from 9 points down to finish level in the FBD league on Sunday last against mayo. They lost on 4-1 on a penalty competition to decide on the result. We wish our own club player Aidan Flynn a speedy recovery after his knock on Sunday.

Carrick Hurling – Carrick Hurling all Ireland Club semi-final takes place on Sunday 20th in Mullingar. It would be great to see as many of our supporters to cheer the team on that has six players from Leitrim Gaels. Leitrim Community Facilities – The Leitrim Community Facilities National Lottery Scheme has completed another year and a draw will be held on after Mass on Sunday 23rd December in St Josephs Hall for all paid up members. There will 12 x €100 prizes, Committee members will call on those who pay cash or cheque for membership for the next 12 months. Any person who would like to join the scheme can contact Joseph Guckian or Willie Donnellan or any committee member. The cost is €10 per month. The scheme is run to raise funds to pay outstanding loans on Leitrim Gaels Community Field and St Joseph’s Centre. The total of the loan outstanding of approximately €95,000.

5k Run/Walk – 5K Run/Walk in aid of the IHCPT on St Stephens Day, race starts at 12 sharp. Registration is from 10.30am to 11.40am at St Joseph’s Hall, Leitrim Village. The organising committee are looking for stewards to do marshalling on the day and volunteers for registration and timekeeping. All are welcome to participate.
