Championship Sunday in Ballinamore – There is a lot at stake on Sunday next in Ballinamore when the Senior and Junior teams both take on Allen Gaels in the Senior Championship at 12noon and in the Junior A Championship at 1.45pm. The Seniors would need to get back to winning ways after a disappointing start. This is the Junior team’s first Championship game of 2018. Good Luck to all the players and mentors. Fair Day Festival – Last weekend the Club took part in the Fair Day Festival in the village and it proved to be a great success. The Club had a special 50/50 draw, a Mystery Auction, a Mixed Blitz and Ball Run. Funds are needed badly and it will take a lot to complete Phase 1, which is a realignment of the carpark wall and draining and realignment of the playing. Under 17s Continue Great Championship Run – The Under 17s went to Annaduff on Monday and secured their fourth win in a row in the Under 17 Championship Division 2. This was another great performance by this group of lads. Well done to all the players and management. Connacht Gold Senior Championship Begins – The Seniors begin the 2018 Championship on Saturday evening (July28th) at 5.30pm in Drumshanbo against St Mary’s Carrick on Shannon. This will be the first round game and we wish all the players and mentors Good Luck. Hopefully there will be a good support travelling to the game.

Another Great Win for the Under 17s – The Under 17s travelled to Gortletterragh on Monday evening and had another great Newtowngore Engineering Championship win over Rinn Gaels. This is three wins out of three. Well done to all the players and mentors. Final score was Melvin Gaels 3-16 Rinn Gaels 3-05.

Sympathies – The Club extends sympathy to White Family, Kinlough on the sad and sudden death of Sean. Sean played for the Club and will be sadly missed by all his relatives and friends. Sympathy is also extended to the Rynne Family, Parke, Kinlough on the sad passing of husband, father and grandfather, Johnny. Great Win for Under 17s – The Under 17s  had a great win over Mohill in the Championship on Monday evening in Melvin Park. The came from behind and finished very strongly with some fantastic scores. Final score Melvin Gaels 4-10, Mohill 1-9. Well done to all the players and mentors. A great last game in Melvin Park before the re-development. Keep it going lads!

The Late Adrian O Donnell – The Club extends Deepest Sympathy to Rose O’Donnell, Laughta, Kinlough on the sudden death of her husband, Adrian. La na gClubanna – Thanks to everyone who supported and everyone who helped in organising La na gClubanna on Saturday last in Melvin Park. It was a great “Funday for All”. The “Guess the Weight of the Lamb” was won by Diarmuid Mc Gowan, Kinlough and joint winners of the Raffled Pig were Cormac Mc Gurran and Anthony Mc Gowan. Thanks to all who supported these draws.

Senior League v Mohill – On Saturday evening in Melvin Park the Senior team took on Senior Champions Mohill in the League this turned out to be a good entertaining, game ending in a draw, Melvin Gaels 0-17, Mohill 1-14, which both sides would claim they could have won. The Gaels performed well and well deserved the draw. Well done to all the players and mentors.

Under 15 Shield Final – On Friday evening last the Under 15s were beaten by the narrowest of margins by Fenagh in the Shield final in Melvin Park. These young lads played some excellent football and were very unlucky to lose the game. Nevertheless, the future looks bright for this young group of players. Well done to all involved.

Dunnes Bar League Game v Aughnasheelin – On Sunday the Senior team had a good win over Aughnasheelin in Melvin Park. Playing without the County players, the Gaels had to dig deep to secure a valuable two points in this game. They got off to a great start and had a five-point lead after the first ten minutes. Aughnasheelin fought back and went into the break leading by two points. In the second half, the Gaels took some good scores and ended up winning on a scoreline of Melvin Gaels 2-10, Aughnasheelin 2-8. Well done to all the players and mentors.
