Leitrim v London
Well done to the Leitrim Team and to Fenagh St Caillins players Donal Wrynn and Ryan O’Rourke on their victory over London in the Connacht Senior Championship on Sunday. Next up is the Connacht semi-final against Roscommon in Hyde Park on 18th June. The curtain raiser on that day is the u17 clash of Leitrim and Roscommon which will be featuring a number of Fenagh St Caillins players.
Results
Our u15 team were defeated by St Josephs in their Shield final played in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Friday evening last. The final score was Fenagh St Caillins 2.08, St Josephs 2.11.
Our Div 3 team also suffered two defeats during the week, losing 2.16 to 2.13 to Eslin on Wednesday last and going down 1.13 to 1.12 to Kiltubrid on Friday evening last.
Fixtures
Our Senior team have two Div 1 fixtures coming up this week. This evening, Wednesday, we host Melvin Gaels with an 8pm throw in and on Saturday evening next, we play St Marys at 7pm away.
Car Wash
On Saturday next, there is a fundraising car wash taking place in Fenagh Village from 11am to 5pm to raise funds for playing gear for our u10/11/12/13 teams. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

U13 Shield Champions
Congratulations to the Fenagh St Caillins u13 team who were victorious in the Barna Recycling (13 a side) Shield final. Well done to the team and to their mentors Caillin McLoughlin, Brendan McLoughlin and Martin Doonan. It was great to see them winning the title in our own Pairc Sean O’Laodain.
 
U15 Shield Final
Fenagh St Caillins u15’s are set to play St Joseph’s in the Shield Final in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Friday evening next at 7pm.
 
Shield Semi Final
Gortletteragh gained revenge for the previous weeks Div 1 loss by reversing the result in the Shield semi-final played in Gortletteragh on Friday last. The final score was Gortletteragh 1.16 Fenagh St Caillins 1.14.
 
Div 3
Our junior team were back in action on Sunday last suffering a defeat to Melvin Gaels on a scoreline of 2.16 to 2.04. They are scheduled to play two games this week, away to Eslin on Wednesday evening at 8pm and at home to Kiltubrid on Saturday at 7pm.
 
Connacht Champions
Congratulations to the Leitrim team on winning the Connacht Junior Championship with a victory over Mayo in the final.
 
Leitrim v London
Best wishes to the Leitrim team and especially our own Donal Wrynn and Ryan O’Rourke who head to Ruislip at the weekend to take on London in the first round of the 2017 Connacht Senior Championship. John Heaney R.I.P.

Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club President John Heaney of Ardagh, Fenagh was laid to rest on Sunday last. The Clubs executive and all its members express our sympathies to his son Sean and daughter Kitty, his daughter-in-law Mary, grandsons Gavin, Richard & David, niece, nephew, relatives, neighbours and friends. Fenagh St Caillins are the 2017 John McCartin Newtowngore Engineering U17 (15 a side) Leitrim League Champions. They overcame a gallant St Mary’s Kiltohert in an exciting game on a scoreline of 1.09 to 1.07. Big congratulations to this fine group of young men and their mentors Tommy Smith, Ray Greenan and Gerry Kilkenny. Match report elsewhere in this paper. Our senior team recorded their first victory in this year’s Div 1 campaign with a great performance on Sunday defeating Gortletteragh on a scoreline of 2.14 to 3.07. Fenagh National School boys team have blazed a trail through their group in the 13 a side competition with wins over Gortletteragh NS, Drumkeeran NS, Ballinamore NS and Carrigallen NS and now progress to the final. The u13 team host Kiltubrid on Friday evening 19th May in the Shield Final, throw in at 7pm. On Sat evening next Fenagh and Gortletteragh seniors are set to do battle again in this year’s Shield semi-final. On Sunday Melvin Gaels make the trip to Pairc Sean O’Laodain for a Div 3 top two clash with our junior team. Well done and best of luck to all our teams.

On Thursday last the u15 team played Mohill and won on a scoreline of Fenagh St Caillins 3.13, Mohill 1.13. Our Div 3 team hosted Gortletteragh on Saturday evening last with the game ending level, Fenagh St Caillins 2.14, Gortletteragh 3.11 The u13 team travelled to Dromahair on Sunday afternoon and the game also ended level, Fenagh St Caillins 2.07, Dromahair 4.01. Then on Sunday evening, the u17 playoff against Sean O’Heslins ended with a victory on a scoreline of Fenagh St Caillins 3.20, Sean O’Heslins 2.10.
Fixtures 
This week sees a tripleheader v St Mary’s. Wednesday evening u15’s play St Mary’s in Fenagh at 7pm. On Friday evening u13’s play St Mary’s in Fenagh at 7pm and on Sunday the u17’s play St Mary’s in the League Final with a 6.30pm throw-in at Pairc Sean MacDiarmada. Games played this past week saw victories recorded for our u13 team over Annaduff 0.13 to 1.06 and Kiltubrid 1.14 to 2.09,  u15’s over Leitrim Gaels 6.11 to 1.11 and u17’s over St Joseph’s 3.18 to 1.07. Our senior team were close to gaining their first points in their league campaign but Drumkeeran managed to prevail at the end winning 1.09 to 1.07.

The draw for this year’s new format Intermediate C’ship sees us drawn in a group to play Aughnasheelin, Eslin, Balinaglera, Aughavas and Drumkeeran.

Results

Our senior team played their 2nd game in the Div 1 League at the weekend. Again the result didn’t go our way losing out to Aughawillan on a scoreline of 1.14 to 0.08. However, an improved performance gives us some hope that a turnaround in fortunes may not be far away. Next weekend sees the team travel to Drumkeeran on Sat evening for a game at 7pm. Our u15’s lost our heavily to Ballinamore/Kiltubrid on Good Friday but our u13 team had a great victory over Drumkeeran on Tuesday last.

Results
Our first game in Div 1 of the senior league highlighted the huge step up that’s needed to be competitive at this level. A much superior Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins team won on a scoreline of 2.19 to 0.05. Our u17’s recorded two emphatic victories over St Mary’s and Glencar Manorhamilton while our u13’s lost out to Leitrim Gaels.

On Saturday evening next our seniors play Co champions Aughawillan. This game throws in at 7pm in Aughawillan. On Friday evening our u15’s are in action against the Kiltubrid/Ballinamore combination with throw in at 7pm in Pairc Sean O’Laodain.

The only team who managed to play this week was our Div 3 team who played in Annaduff on Saturday evening last. The lads continued their good run in this division with a victory on a scoreline of Fenagh St Caillins 1.09, Annaduff 0.10.

On Saturday evening next our senior team make their long-awaited return to the Division 1 League after an absence of 9 seasons. The opposition is our neighbours from Sean O’Heslins. This eagerly anticipated fixture throws in at 7pm in Pairc Sean O’Laodain. Please come out and show the team your support. The only other confirmed fixture at this stage is the u17 league fixture v St Marys Kiltoghert which is fixed for Sunday next at 12pm in Pairc Sean O’Laodain. Two club teams were in competitive action at the weekend. Our u15’s played Glencar Manorhamilton on Sat and won on a scoreline of 1.17 to 3.07. Our Div 3 team also had a victory over Allen Gaels on a scoreline of 2.14 to 1.07. Both games were played in glorious sunshine in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Saturday afternoon.

National Football League / Connacht Minor League 
Well done to Donal Wrynn and the Leitrim team on a good win against London at the weekend. Next Saturday sees them take on Waterford in the final league game. Fixtures/Results
The only fixture not to fall to the weather last weekend was the u13 league game v Glen Gaels. It was this team’s first outing of the year and it resulted in a fine display and a victory. Sundays u17 game v St Marys Kiltoghert was postponed. Next weekend sees the u15’s back in action. They play Glencar Manor in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 3pm. This game is followed by the Div 3 meeting of Fenagh St Caillins and Allen Gaels at 5pm.

Club meeting A Club meeting takes place this Thursday evening 23rd March in the Parochial House at 8pm.

St Patrick’s Day Parade
Well done to all the young Club members and their mentors/parents who braved the rain to join the Fenagh St Patrick’s Day Parade. The Parade was a great success despite the unfavourable weather conditions.

Club Results/Fixtures
Our u15 team commenced their league campaign on Saturday last in Aughavas and in a tight encounter they managed to edge it at the final whistle on a scoreline of Fenagh St Caillins 3.09, St Joseph’s 1.11. On Sunday our Junior team played Drumkeeran in their first game since gaining promotion to Div 3. After a fine performance from quite a young team, they were victorious on a scoreline of Fenagh St Caillins 2.13, Drumkeeran 1.07. The Junior team head to Glenfarne on Saturday evening next to take on the home side. Throw in is at 5pm. Our u13 team play Glen Gaels also on Saturday next in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 12pm then on Sunday our u17’s play St Mary’s Kiltoghert in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 12.30pm.
National Club Draw 
Thanks to all who supported our Club in the National Club Draw. We had no individual winners however our club was lucky to be drawn out as €1000 winners in the draw for Clubs who achieved ticket sales of 200 or more, a feat not achievable without your continued support. Congratulations also to our neighbours Kiltubrid GAA who won €5000.

Fixtures
Unfortunately last weekends wet weather meant all the clubs scheduled fixtures were cancelled. Hopefully, next weekend things can get back on track. Games fixed for next weekend are the commencement of the u15 league on Sat away to St Joseph’s at 12pm and the Div 3 league starts on Sunday with a home fixture against Drumkeeran at 12pm. 
 
Inter-County 
Well done to Donal Wrynn and the senior team on a great victory over Carlow on Sunday last. This weekend sees the U21 team face Galway in the Connacht Championship. Best of luck to Ryan O’Rourke and the team. The Leitrim Minor team also face Galway next weekend in the first round of the Connacht Minor League. Fenagh St Caillins are represented by Nathan O’Rourke, Riordan O’Rourke, Mark Keegan, Oisin McLoughlin and Conor Dwyer in the minor squad. Check Leitrim Observer for venues and times. 
 
Scór Church Gate Collection 
A Church gate collection takes place next weekend for local Scór and Scór na nÓg. Your continued support is much appreciated. 
 
Adopt a Road Scheme
Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club has enrolled in the ‘adopt a road’ scheme and will be adopting the stretch of road from Castlefore, past Pairc Sean O’Laodain, and on to Cornagun. Members of the Club will be collecting litter along this stretch over the coming weeks.
