Junior Championship – Congratulations to the Junior team on making the Junior B Championship Final. They defeated Bornacoola in the Semi-Final last weekend. Score: Aughawillan: 2-13 Bornacoola: 1-9. They now play Fenagh/St Caillin’s in the Final, day & venue TBC.

Underage – The u15 St Brigid’s team had mixed fortunes last weekend – they were defeated by Dromahair on Friday but drew with Leitrim Gaels the day after. Score: St Brigids: 3-5 Dromahair: 4-10; St Brigid’s 1-11 Leitrim Village 1-11. The next Championship game versus St Mary’s is on Saturday 29th September at 12pm in St Mary’s Park, Carrick.

Plunkett Cup – Well done to all the players from St Brigid’s and Ballinamore on a great performance in the Plunkett Cup last Sunday. Congrafulations to Ballinamore won on the day by 1 point.

Liam Gormley Tournament – The Liam Gormley Tournament takes place on Saturday 29th September from 10am, with u9 and u11 teams taking part. All support on the day would be appreciated.

Corraleehan Parish Walk – Corraleehan Parish Walk continues each Thursday night at 8.30pm from Corraleehan Church. Community spirit, health, fitness, whatever your goals we will be happy to see everyone.

Intermediate Championship – The intermediate championship semi-final against favourites Fenagh is Saturday afternoon next in Pairc Sean at 3:30pm. We urge as many supporters as possible to come out and get behind the team as it is sure to go down to the wire.

Junior B Championship – The Junior B team bowed out of the championship last weekend when they were defeated by Fenagh in the semi-final. Well done to all the players who trained hard all year and Thanks to the management team of Peter Goldrick and Mal Guckian

Table Quiz – Thanks to all those who attended our quiz night on Friday night last. Thank you to Dessie Doyle for questions and comparing and to all those who donated prizes. Thanks to david Carty and staff for their wonderful hospitality and to the winning team the Master Debators , who donated the winning prize back to the club.

Go Games – The under 12 team travelled to croke park to take part in Go games on Sunday last well done to all the players and those who travelled with them. Thanks to Martin and Josie Murtagh for sponsoring tops for the occasion.

Championship Final – St Francis ladies play Mohill in the intermediate championship final on Sunday 30th September at 12pm in Ballinamore. They have been working very hard all year to get to this point. The club urges everyone to get out in great numbers to support the ladies. Be that extra voice in the crowd. Junior final DVD – This DVD is on sale in loughlins shop, Dowra for €10. A great memory to have and to watch back in years to come.

Fixtures – IFC Relegation Final will take place in Cloone on Sunday 30th September at 10.30am against Mohill.  Please come out and support the team.

Lotto – Our next lotto draw will be held in “The Dugout” on Saturday 29th September.  Jackpot is €11,700. Ray & Ciaran’s team are hosting the draw. Lotto envelopes €2 each or three envelopes for €5.

St Joseph’s Boys – Our U15’s team made the long trip to Bundoran on Saturday morning last to take on Melvin Gaels.  After running into an early lead, we let the home side back into it, we were to rue some missed opportunities as we lost out by a point at the end. Our next game is Kilurbid on Saturday morning in Kilturbid.

Our U13’s were invited to take part in a tournament at Cremartin Shamrocks Club in County Monaghan on Sunday last, we played the hosts in a final and after a tough hard-fought game we lost out by a goal.  The boys all enjoyed the day and will have learned from the experience.  Thanks to the Cremartin Shamrock’s Club for their kind hospitality and looking after us so well on the day with special mention to former Aughavas player Brendan McKiernan, Drumshanbo North for inviting us.

Sympathy – Aughavas GAA club would like to extend their sincere sympathy to the family of the late Aloysius Blessing formerly Aughnaglace and Hamden, Connecticut who lined out in the green and white with Aughavas winning the 1949 and 1952 County Championships.  May he Rest in Peace.

Wedding – Congratulations to Anthony Moran, Melican who married Siobhan Higgins in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Belturbet on Saturday last.  We wish them every health and happiness in their married life.

St. Francis Ladies – The intermediate final is fixed for this Sunday September 30th at 12noon in Ballinamore where Mohill provide the opposition. The ladies have put in a lot of hard work all year so please turnout in big numbers to cheer them on this weekend. Best of luck to Paul, Gareth and the squad as they prepare for the big game.

Minor Ladies – The ladies overcame Keeldra Gaels in the championship semi final on Saturday morning in the park. Well done to all concerned and we await details of the final. Best of luck to Ciara, Dermot, Ann and the girls.

U-15’s – The lads had a good win away to Glencar Manorhamilton on Friday evening on a scoreline of 3-11 to 1-08. Three early goals laid the foundation for victory and we now play Mohill at home on Saturday at 12noon so good luck to Farrell, Angus and the team.

U-13 Regional Final – The Lough Allen Region plays the Carrick Region in the final of the U-13 competition in Cloone on Tuesday of this week. Best of luck to all involved and we will have a report next week.

Lotto – There was no winner of the lotto jackpot last week. The prize winners of €20 each were: Norman Kelly, Drumkeerin; Elizabeth McGovern, Drumcong; David Keaney, Aughacashel; Gerry Cullen, Ballinaglera; Damien McCabe, Drumleague. The jackpot now stands at €3,200.

Connacht Gold Senior Championship – Our senior team went down by 2-04 to 0-13 against Aughnasheelin in Drumshanbo on Saturday evening. This now means that we face Bornacoola on Sunday 30th in Drumshanbo at 12pm. Please come out to support the lads.

Westlink Coaches U15 Championship –The boys recorded their first win of the championship with a hard fought victory over St Brigid’s on a scoreline of 4-10 to 3-05 on Friday last. Next up is a home game against Leitrim Gaels in The Park on Saturday 29th at 12pm.

Junior B Championship – The Juniors bowed out of the championship on Saturday last when Aughawillan proved the superior team in the county semi-final in Ballinamore. The early exchanges pointed to a close encounter, but two goals in the ten minute period leading up to half-time gave the Willies a comfortable 2-7 to 0-4 half time lead. The Bors woes were added to as they were reduced to 14 men for the entirety of the 2nd half. However an early Brian Conroy goal in the second period, brought the Bors back into contention and at one stage, the lead had been reduced to just three points. However, the Willies rallied in the closing stages and added a couple of crucial scores to seal a 7 point victory – 2-13 to 1-9. Team was Conor Hackett, Tony Shanley, Conor Mc Cauley, Luke Jones, Gearoid Mulligan, Mervyn Howard, Robert O Beirne, Michael Duignan, Anthony Mulligan (0-2), Noel Mc Enroe, Shane Conroy, Roy Keenan, Jonathan Duffy (0-1), Brian Conroy (1-5) and Liam Jones (0-1). Subs used were Mark Mc Closkey, Ciaran Campbell, Kevin Shanley and John Shanley. Our thanks to manager Brian Mallon and to Aidan Reilly for their work with this team all year.

 Senior Championship – We face Dromahair on Sunday morning next at 12noon in Drumshanbo in the Relegation final. With our senior status at stake, we hope there is a good turn out to support the Bors.     

 Croke Park – Well done to all of our young players, their mentors and supporters who travelled to Croke Park on Sunday last for the Connacht GAA GoGames day. Memories that will last a lifetime were forged – maith sibh go léir.

September Club Draw – The September club draw takes place this Saturday night the 28th of September in the Copper Still – music and the usual prizes on the night

Spin the Wheel – Thanks to everyone who has supported our “Spin the Wheel” fundraiser to date. The second lucky person who will spin the wheel on Sunday the 28th of October will be drawn as part of the September club draw this Saturday in the Copper Still. Please return all sold tickets to your co-ordinator to ensure you have all your tickets in for the draw. The third draw will take place on Saturday the 13th of October so there are lots of opportunity to be one of the lucky winners to spin the wheel.

Lough Rynn Harvest Festival – Well done to all involved with the organisation of yet another spectacular Lough Rynn Harvest Festival in Lough Rynn on Sunday last. Thank you also to all of our members who volunteered for stewarding duties.

U13’s – St Joseph’s U13s made the journey to Cremartin in Monaghan on Sunday to take on the home team in their own tournament. Two evenly matched teams played out a very competitive match in which the lead changed hands numerous times. Unfortunately for St Joseph’s it was the home team who emerged victorious on a final scoreline of Cremartin 3-08 St Joseph’s 1-10. Thanks to the Cremartin club for their hospitality after the match and to Aughavas native Brendan Mc Kiernan for arranging the invite to his adopted club.

U15’s – Our U15’s made the long journey to Bundoran to play Melvin Gaels on Saturday morning last. In a thoroughly entertaining game, which ebbed and flowed throughout, we lost out by the narrowest of margins after a nail biting finish. Final score: St. Joseph’s 5-08 Melvin Gaels 5-09. Next game is away to Kiltubrid on Saturday at 12 noon.
Training – Final training of the season for our U7, U9 & U11’s takes place in Carrigallen at 10am on Saturday..

Senior Championship – Our senior team qualified for the Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship semi-final with a superb team performance defeating Ballinamore SOH in the quarter final replay last Saturday evening in Páirc Seán on a scoreline of 1-21 to 1-6.  Attention now turns to the semi-final versus the reigning county champions Mohill which takes place this Saturday (Sep 29th) at 5pm in Páirc Seán. This is a massive game for the lads and your support is always appreciated by the players.  Good luck to the team and management.

Junior A Championship – Well done to our Junior team who qualified for the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior A Championship Final with a commanding semi-final win over Carrigallen on Sunday last in Drumshanbo.  The game was evenly balanced at half time with Manor leading by just 3 points (1-8 to 1-5).  In the second half they gave an exhibition of score-taking to run out 1-23 to 1-6 winners.  They play neighbours Glenfarne Kiltyclogher in the final with fixture TBC.  We wish them all the best in their preparations.

Manorhamilton Enterprise Town – Bank of Ireland are hosting the Manorhamilton Enterprise Town event in the Bee Park Community Centre on Tuesday evening 25th September between 6 and 9pm with MC for the evening none other than Marty Morrisey and another special guest will also be in attendance!  Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club will join the many clubs, societies, community groups, businesses and enterprises from the area in showcasing themselves and our locality.  Our U11 team who represented the club with distinction at the Play and Stay Games in Croke Park at the weekend will be honoured at the event.  This is a free event for all so do be sure to come along.

Minor Ladies – Hard luck to our Minor Ladies team who were defeated by St  Felim’s in the County Final on a scoreline of 4-13 to 3-6 on Saturday last in Leitrim Village. The Manor girls held the narrowest of leads at the break on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-5 however St Felim’s dominated the scoring in the second half to deservedly claim the title.

U10/U8 Girls – Our Wednesday evening training for the U8 and U10 girls has now concluded for the winter months. Thanks very much to Fidelma, Dermot and Meabh who trained the girls throughout the summer. The Club Academy continues for the winter months on a Friday evening from 6.30 – 7.30pm to keep the skills fresh during the winter season.

Lotto – Our last Lotto Draw took place on 19/9/18.  Numbers drawn 5, 13, 14, 25.  There was no winner of the jackpot of €4,225.  Consolation prizes were won by Eoin MacManus, Jacinta Gilbride, Amy O’Hagan, Celine McEneaney and Liam O’Hara.  Well done to the winners.  The jackpot now stands at €4,300 and the next draw will take place in Heraghty’s.  Many thanks to everyone who continues to support our Lotto.

Congrats – Congrats to Dearbhla Rooney who has been selected to represent Ireland in the World Youth Olympics in October.  Dearbhla was one of only three Irish boxers selected to compete at the games and we wish her the best of luck in her preparations for the prestigious event.

Wedding Bells – Congrats to Mena McMorrow and John White who were married in Gougane Barra, Cork on Thursday 20th September and had their wedding party celebrations with family and friends in The Glass House Hotel, Sligo on Saturday 22nd.  We wish Mena and John many years of health and happiness.

New Arrival – Hearty congrats to Fearghal and Anne McTernan in Brisbane, Australia who welcomed their first born, a baby daughter Georgia into the world at the weekend.  We extend our congrats to the proud grandparents Thady (Club President) and Ita McTernan in Donaghmore.

U11s –  Memories forever were made in Croke Park on Sunday for our U11 boys and girls who were great ambassadors for our club both on and off the field of play. We salute the children and their parents who embraced this special occasion.  James Glancy organised the whole trip and we are indebted to James for all the work he has and continues to put into this team.  The boys and girls continue their weekly involvement in training and blitzes as they strive to develop as players and as a team.

Club Academy – Our Club Football Academy takes place every Friday evening in the Bee Park from 6.30 to 7.30pm.

U15s – Hard luck to our U15s who had their first loss of the championship campaign against Allen Gaels at home on Friday last on a scoreline of 1-08 to 3-11.  They have a bye this weekend.

U9s – Training takes place at the Academy times on Friday evening with blitzes being played as scheduled.

50th Celebration – On the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2019 we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our great club. Events will be running throughout the weekend so do be sure to keep it free in your diaries. We hope it will be a gathering of the many people at home and abroad who down through the years represented, officiated, sponsored and supported Glencar Manor. This is an open invitation to everyone who has or had an association with us from 1969 to the present day. More details to follow.

Intermediate Relegation Final – Our second string are holding on for dear life to their Intermediate status and have a last chance this week-end at 11 am when they play Aughavas in Cloone, watch fixtures for verification. Eslin in semi-final – We wish Eslin the best of luck in their semi-final on Sunday at 2.30 in Carrick with Annaduff. Great to see the two parish teams doing so well

Walking Track – The new Walking track around the pitch will be officially opened by ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’, The Beirnes and athlete Eanna Madden on Saturday, Oct 14, time to be arranged. More details next week. 

Smith Monumentals IFC – We had a very good victory over Mohill in the Smiths Monumentals Intermediate championship relegation semi-final in Aughavas on Saturday evening last coming out on top on a scoreline of Cloone 2 19 Mohill 2 07. Well done to the team and management. Well done to the Aughavas Club on having their grounds in pristine condition for the match.

Croke Park Experience – On Saturday last a group of our under age payers and their mentors travelled to Croke park for the Connacht Council Gaa sponsored play and Stay blitz. The travelling party which consisted of fourty three players and fourteen mentors had a really enjoyable time. The day trip which included the blitz games and a tour of the Gaa Museum was thoroughly enjoyed by all and will no doubt leave lasting memories for the young players involved and will hopefully create a an ambition to return to the famous ground to represent club and county. Well done to the organising committee for this wonderful initiative.

Under 15 – These lads have won their first three games but will come up against much stronger opposition in the next few weeks. On Friday last they narrowly beat Dromahaire and on the previous Monday had a comprehensive victory over Leitrim Gaels. The panel and scorers on the Monday game was, L Bohan, D Scott, F Cassells, G Reynolds, J Foy, B Donohue, T McNabola, C Quinn 0-2, C Keegan 1-2, A McCrann 1-3, S Bohan 1-0, K Curran 1-3, M Murphy 1-0, C Macklin 1-2, A McCrann 0-1, D Duignan 0-1, B David 1-0, B Logan, A Looby. Next Friday they meet St Mary’s in Pairc Philib MhicAonghusa.

Under 13 Reserves – Mohill came out tops in this Shield Final on Friday last in Pairc Seán. This was a very entertaining game with both sides showing the benefit of underage coaching. The lead changed many times but on the final whistle the Mohill boys were two goals up and the celebrations began. Minor Ladies – The Minor girls will contest the Shield Final with Drumkeerin in Leitrim Village at 2pm on Saturday next. The girls give massive support to the menfolk so we will expect them to come out in numbers this weekend and the weekend after to cheer on our Ladies in the Intermediate Final.
