Senior & Junior A Championships – Well done to our Senior and Junior B teams who recorded championship wins at the weekend over neighbours Melvin Gaels and Dromahair.  The seniors pulled away in the last quarter to see off Melvin Gaels 0-15 to 1-8 in Páirc Seán on Saturday while the Juniors were impressive winners over Dromahair 8-10 to 1-9 in Drumkeerin on Sunday.  The Seniors play Round 3 versus Bornacoola this Saturday at 5.30pm in Ballinamore.  Your support as always is appreciated.

Senior & Junior Ladies – Congrats to our Senior Ladies who topped their group with a comfortable 8-16 to 3-6 win over Oughteragh Gaels on Sunday morning last in Leitrim Village.  At halftime the game was very much in the mix as the Manor ladies went in five points ahead playing against the breeze. After halftime and aided by the breeze the Manor girls built on their first half performance to claim a valuable two points. They have now qualified for the Championship semi-final to face Dromahair, who had a comprehensive win on Sunday evening over Aughawillan to qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be played in two weeks time with Kiltubrid and St Joseph’s taking the other two final four spots.

Development Work Going Well – As can be seen, the work is going well on the Development at the Community Centre and Melvin Park. Funds are needed badly and it will take a lot to complete Phase 1, which is a realignment of the carpark wall and draining and realignment of the playing. It is an exciting and ambitious project which will cost in excess of €200,000 but it is urgently needed.

The support has been very good so far. The fundraising will involve “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Championship – It was a hard-fought draw for the senior lads on Saturday in Cloone when they took on our neighbours Drumreilly in the second round of this year’s championship. As was expected Drumreilly were a stern test and led by 1 point at half time with the score 0:07 to 1:05. The second half started well for Drumreilly with the adding a couple of quick points to give them a three-point lead, the lads rallied and after 10 minutes the sides were level. Both team continued to trade points before Drumreilly scored an important goal to lead by three with 14 mins of the second half gone. It was nip and tuck for the rest of the game with the lads levelling and then taking the lead only for Drumreilly to level near the end, with the final score 1:12 to 2:09. The result leaves the lads on second in the group on 3 points level with Drumreilly and one point behind Mohill, the next match is on Saturday in Pairc Sean against Dromahair at 1730

The tournament was a massive success which gave the lads some very competitive games and they picked up some excellent skills in these last few months.
