One Connacht title for Leitrim in this years Connacht Scór na nÓg Finals last Saturday in Claremorris. Leitrim Gaels took home the only title in the Ballad Group

The first Leitrim performance to take to the stage was represented by the fine young ladies of St Marys in the Figure dance. the girls gave a fabulous performance  but the 8 ladies from St Dominics in Roscommon danced through to the All-Irelands once again.

In Solo Singing Aoife McLoughlin of Kilbride Roscommon won the Connacht title seeing off Leitrims Kathy Mc Loughlin of Leitrim Gaels.

Easkey won the only title of the evening for Sligo in Instrumental Music , winning over our Leitrim Gaels team who received great rapture from the audience but unfortunately not the judges choice and Easkey retained their title for a second year.

Recitation was a very entertaining competition and Patrick Mullooly of St Dominics Rosommon was declared the winner. Credit to Aughnasheelans Sarah Mc Weeney and the self penned tale of modern day Scór , it drew lots of positive attention and received commendation from outgoing chair Mick Rock of Roscommon in his closing speech.

Leiriu winner was St Dominics of Roscommon, Set Dance went once again to Aughamore of Mayo. Leitrim has no entries in either of these competitions much to the shock of other Connaught counties as we would be deemed strong on both of these. One to revive for next year and not let the talent pass us by unnoticed.

Leitrims standard of participation was as high as ever this year and no doubt Leitrim Juniors will be back with a bang again in 2015.

The All-Ireland Finals will be held in Citywest Hotel & Conference Centre on February 14th at 3pm. Please note it is a ticket only event, tickets are priced at €20 and are non-refundable. they can be ordered through your club officer or Maura Mulvey at 087-6486967, all orders must be placed by Monday –January 27th

Wishing Leitrim Gaels and all of the Connacht winners the best of luck.

No joy for Leitrim participants at this years All-Ireland. The cold shoulder was felt among all Connacht competitors as the Province were to all come home empty handed. The standard of this years finalists was as high as ever seen in previous years but Leitrim were still eagerly tipped winners amongst the hustle and rumours of the audience.

The new Question time quiz took place separately than the main event early on Saturday morning inÓgMIT, Castlebar. Leitrim were represented by Melvin Gaels, Cork emerged the All-Ireland winners.
St Marys Figure dancers gave a fine performance. The 8 ladies had nothing left to give when they emerged down from the stage, all the energy they possessed was left on the floor of the TF. However they were admirably beaten by Glenflesk of Kerry.
Aiden Dockery of Bornacoola gave a very moving rendition in recitation accompanied elegantly by Irene Guckian on fiddle, Sharon Walsh of Kildare with a very witty piece of drama was declared the All-Ireland champ.
St Marys took to the stage a second time in Ballad Group. A very diligent group with plenty of experience of what was expected to win this title and they certainly delivered. Dismay and disbelief when Omaghs five men swooped it up for Ulster.
Fenagh Set Dancers, despite the long wait to the end of the day put out an excellent performance. Rapturous cheers and applause for this fine young team, it was not to be their year as Kerry took their second dancing title.
Despite no All-Ireland titles, a fine days entertainment was provided and each act and group truly earned their place in the final. Sincere thanks to all who travelled to Castlebar, the support from the crowd certainly added to the atmosphere and eased the competitors nerves.

All-Ireland winners:
Rince Foirne: Glenflesk, Kerry
Solo Singing: Hannah Ferguson, Derry
Recitation: Sharon Walsh, Kildare
Ceol Uirlise: Mountmellick, Laois
Trath Na gCeisteanna: Cork
Léiriú: St Josephs Westmeath
Ballad Group: St Endas, Omagh Tyrone
Set Dancing: Kilcumman, Kerry

Another incredible night for Leitrim in the Connacht Senior Scór Finals. Leitrim once again topped the polls of titles on the night by winning 5 of the 8 events.
This brings our Connacht titles to 115 in Scór since it started in 1970. Leitrim also retained the Cormac MacGiolla Memorial Shield which was won in recognition of our success, the shield has never been outside of Leitrim since it was introduced to the competition in 2009.

St Marys were first to the stage in Rince Foirne and won the Figure Dance title, seeing off the opposition from Roscommon. The team will be hoping for a third time lucky All-Ireland chance this year having won the Connacht title for the first time in 2012 and they will be hoping to go the extra mile and bring the title back to Leitrim.
James Hazlet of Drumkeerin gave a fabulous performance in solo singing but Norrie Quinn of Abbeyknockmoy took the title back to Galway for a second year in a row.
Drumkeerin also represented Leitrim in Instrumental Music, they gave a flawless foot tapping performance but unfortunately for Leitrim, previous All-Ireland finalists, St Farnans of Sligo were announced the winners.
Aiden Dockery of Bornacoola gave a heartfelt performance in Recitation, winning him the Connacht title.
A fabulous win for St Marys Ballad group who gave yet another outstanding performance. Having made it to the All Ireland on 2 separate occasions in past years, elation was felt among the leitrim supporters for this exceptional group. It really will be double whammy for St Marys this year with both groups making their third All-Ireland debut.
Leona Reynolds from Aughnasheelin competed in Rince Sean-Os, a very well executed performance, mixing the traditional old style steps with her flare and energy successfully won the title.
Set Dancing was won by the Fenagh St Caillins team, a fine performance, and worthy winners of this years title.

Sean OHeslins having won the Question Time at Leitrim County Final will represent the County in a National Question Time Quiz in the IT Castlebar on the morning of the All-Ireland.

Scór Sinsir took place on Saturday last in Drumshanbo. The talent on stage once again was of a high standard & left the Roscommon judges with a few hard decisions to make. There was one entry only in the Leiriu competition however the adjudication panel declared it ineligible to go forward to the Connacht final under Scór rules. It will be the first time Leitrim have no entry in drama. Under new guidelines brought in this year there is a lot of unknowns of how to proceed & hopefully we can learn more through its developments in this its first Scór year.

The Connacht final will take place on March 22nd at 6pm sharp.

The very best of luck to all our Leitrim winners

The  All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals took place last Saturday 1st of March in the Royal Theatre.  Leitrims Aughnasheelin Set Dancers gave a fabulous performance and danced their hearts out but lost out to Spa, Kerry. Last to perform after a long days competition, the supporters in Castlebar gave the team a rapturous welcome when they danced onto the stage and it was great encouragement to the young team, great to see so many people there to support them in their first All-Ireland debut.  Well done to the set dancers and all involved, you did Leitrim very proud.
