This weekend the stand will be open for public viewing:

Saturday (16th June) – 11:00am to 6:00pm
Sunday (17th June) – 10:00am to 1:00pm

Members of Leitrim County Board will be on hand to give you a guided tour of our new facilities.

This stand is not just about well appointed seats from which you can closely watch a game, it is much more than that. The dressing rooms are an impressive size and have ice baths and extensive shower facilities, including the latest communications technology.

The middle tier to the rear of the seated area is a full row of offices, display area, catering facility, Managers office, drugs testing room and a post match media area.

Overhead all the seats is the main media centre which contains 6 radio boxes, 2 team Managers boxes, video platform and ample space for other media and corporate visitors.

The whole stand is finished to a very high standard and is the only stand in Ireland built to the most recent structural guidelines.

We highly recommend you take a tour which takes approx. 20 minutes.

Come along and get a feel for what the atmosphere will be like on June 24th

On June 24th immediately before the 2pm start of the Connacht Championship Semifinal game the official opening of the new seated stand will be performed.

The Galway game is the perfect showcase in which to open the stand which is on schedule and will be completed shortly.

The facility is a much needed replacement for the old dressing rooms and media area. The new stand has 4 well proportioned dressing rooms with communication and media links to respective Team Analyst boxes on the upper most tier.

The middle tier will provide much needed Administrative office space and meeting rooms for the day to day running of Leitrim GAA. It also has a Museum / Display area which will be opened later in the summer.

The upper tier (over the seated area) is a state of the art media centre with fully sound proofed Radio boxes and ample space for other media types. Towards the ends of the stand is space for meetings and a corporate area. On the evening of June 24th after the big match this area on the N4 side will be transformed into a Studio for RTE for the purposes of performing the Qualifier draw which will be aired live.

The main stand area provides well appointed panoramic views of the playing field and the angle of the stand gives you a feeling of close proximity to the playing area.

The Get on the Team fund raising campaign is ongoing and has now reached the €600,000 mark. There has been a marked increase in donations in recent weeks all of which is very much appreciated. If you are not on the Team Fundraiser and wish to do so then please contact an officer of the County Board as soon as possible as every euro invested at this stage will reduce the cost of any borrowings that Leitrim GAA may have to endure. Click on the Developments Link on the left hand side to obtain more specific info. and instructions. Donations that are not Tax Relief compatible are also most welcome.

The unveiling of the Get on the Team plaques is planned for another date later in the summer.

The Leitrim Launch of Feile Peil na nÓg was a huge success on Wednesday evening in a packed Orchard Room in the Bush Hotel.

The event commenced with the arrival of the young Feile representatives from each of the Host clubs from Leitrim, Sligo and Roscommon. Tommy Moran was MC for the night and provided much entertainment throughout the evening. Entertainment of a musical and dancing variety was provided by the Ward Sisters from Aughnasheelin. A slide show of Images and Information relating to Feile was also included in the evenings programme.

There were many dignitaries speaking at the event throughout the course of the evening including Feile Committe members, Chairpersons of Leitrim County Boards, Sponsors Coca Cola, Connacht Council and the National Feile Executive. The Ladies President Geraldine Giles spoke about the importance of Feile for our youth and its importance as a GAA event.

Two player representatives, Sandra Butler and Joseph O Rourke both from St. Marys recited the Feile Players Charter.

The final speaker of the night was Uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Nickey Brennan who made his address and declared Feile na nÓg 2007 officially launched. The final event was the ceremonial cutting of the cake by players Sharon McGowan Bornacoola and John McDermott from St. Marys.

The final round of school visits is performed today (Friday) in the Roscommon area with both Presidents available to address the Feile players in various venues throughout the day.
