Weather postponements – Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather last weekend, all the club’s GAA games and our medal presentation were postponed. The medal presentation will be rescheduled soon.

Fixtures for the weekend – on Saturday next we play Mohill in the u17 league. This game takes place in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 12pm. On Sunday next, our u13 team is scheduled to play Gortletteragh also in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 12pm. Our Div 3 team are due to commence this year’s league campaign against Annaduff in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 4.30pm on Saturday.
Lotto results – results from this weeks lotto draw are: jackpot €2250, numbers drawn 5 6 7 2 1 3 8 4. There was no winner. €20 winners were Sean Gillooly, Johnny McCaffrey and Peter Guckian.  Yearly ticketholder winner of €20 was Fiachra Guckian. The next draw will take place in Quinns Bar on the Bank Holiday Sunday 18th March. Thank you for your continuing support.

Results – there were mixed results again in the double header played in Pairc Sean O’Laodain on Saturday last. In the first game our u13’s fought back in the second half to overcome Kiltubrid by 5-09 to 4-02. In the second game our u17’s showed great improvement from their first league outing but fell just short losing to Allen Gaels by a point, 1-11 to 3-06. It was great to see a nice crowd in the park on such a cold morning but thankfully they were able to enjoy a cup of hot tea/coffee and a cup of Marie’s lovely soup. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Fixtures for the weekend – on Saturday next our u17’s travel to take on Leitrim Gaels with a 12pm start. On Sunday our u13’s are away to Drumkeeran also at 12pm. Saturday afternoon next sees the commencement of the adult leagues. Our Div 3 team host Allen Gaels in Pairc Sean O’Laodain at 4.30pm. All these games going ahead will depend on the weather not turning out as bad as predicted.
Handball news – best of luck to Jarlath Scollan in his upcoming All Ireland Junior handball semi-final.
Well done – Fenagh St Caillins u11 team featured in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada on Sunday last in the halftime games during the Leitrim v Limerick National Football League game. They took on Mohill and all played very well. Also well done to the Leitrim team on a great victory.
Medal presentation – Our 2017 victorious u13 and u17 teams will receive their medals on Sunday evening next in Fenagh Visitors Centre at 7pm. All Ireland winning Dublin player Ciarán Kilkenny will be a special guest for the event.

Best of luck – to the newly reformed Fenagh Drama Troupe who take to the stage next Fri and Sat evening in Fenagh Community Centre with their 3 act comedy ‘The Maiden Aunt’. Show begins at 8.30pm.

The late Gus Guckian – Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club wishes to express our sadness at the news of the passing of club member and former club player Gus Guckian, R.I.P. Gus played with Fenagh during the 70’s winning junior and intermediate titles. He also played with Kiltubrid and Bornacoola during the 70’s and 80’s. We express our deepest sympathies to his sisters Veronica and Imelda, his extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Results – last weekend saw the commencement of this year’s underage leagues. Our u17’s played a strong St Mary’s team on Saturday losing out on a scoreline of 5.16 to 1.03. On Sunday our u13’s fared better, winning against Annaduff with the final score 2.12 to 3.5.
Fixtures – both u17 and u13 teams will be back in league action this coming weekend. Both games are fixed for Pairc Sean O’Laodain. Dates and times will be posted on Fenagh St Caillins Facebook page.
U11’s playing at halftime – Fenagh St Caillins u11 team will feature on Sunday next at half time in the National Football League game between Leitrim and Limerick in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada. Please come along and show them your support. Best of luck also to Donal and Ryan in the senior game. The game throws in at 2pm.

Condolences – Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club expresses our condolences to the family of the late Damien McKeon, Keshcarrigan following his untimely death. May he rest in peace.

2018 Underage Season – The eagerly awaited commencement of games for 2018 is upon us with matches in the u17 and u13 leagues scheduled for this weekend. On Sat our u17’s face St Marys in Pairc Naomh Mhuire at 12pm while on Sunday our u13’s take on Annaduff at 12pm in Annaduff. Best of luck to both sets of players and managements for the year ahead. Heres hoping for an improvement in the weather.

National Club Draw – A sincere thank you to everybody who purchased tickets from our club members for this draw. The draw takes place on 8th March. Last year we had no individual winners however our club won €1000 in the draw. Heres hoping for some more local good fortune this year.
Adult season – Our men’s teams will commence action soon with Div 3 scheduled to start on weekend of March 3/4 and Div 1 starting on last weekend of March.

Coiste na nÓg – The first fixtures of 2018 are scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 17th/18th February with the commencement of the U17 and u13 leagues. 
 
Senior Scór – Scór Sinsir will take place on Saturday, March 3rd. The Leitrim quiz will take place first at 6pm with the stage competition following at approx. 7.30pm.  Categories as follows: Figure Dancing, Recitation, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music, Ballad Group, Question Time (4 persons per team-Leitrim winners qualifying directly to the All-Ireland Table Quiz), Léiriú, Set Dancing. Allianz National Football League – Good luck to the Leitrim senior football team who commence this year’s league in Belfast next weekend against Antrim. Fenagh St Caillins are represented by Donal Wrynn who captain’s the Leitrim team again this year and also Ryan O’Rourke.

Season Ahead – With the commencement of the 2018 season looming for some of our teams, activity in the park is picking up. Last weekend saw the u17’s back on the pitch and the seniors will be heading out this weekend. Also the u13’s will be back in action very soon and our youngest warriors have returned to the Handball Alley for indoor action after a break during Christmas. Well Done – Two of our senior players were recipients of a 2018 Connacht GAA Student Bursary Award at a recent ceremony. Congrats to Nathan O’Rourke, NUIG and to Riordan O’Rourke, DCU.

The Late Eamon Tubman, RIP –  Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club expresses its deep sympathies to the Tubman family, Fenaghbeg, Fenagh following the sudden passing on New Year’s Eve of Eamon Tubman Snr. Throughout his life, Eamon was a valued member of our GAA Club as a player, club officer, team selector, coach and team manager. Eamon was also a key member of the Fenagh GAA Club Park Committee who were responsible for the development of Pairc Sean O’Laodain in 1985. As recently as last October, Eamon was honoured, along with his teammates, on the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Fenagh GAA Club winning the Leitrim Junior Championship in 1967. Eamon also served as an officer of the Leitrim Co Board with distinction and was Vice Chairman on the occasion of Leitrim becoming Connacht Champions in 1994. Outside of the GAA, Eamon will also be remembered for his involvement in many other organisations both locally and nationally. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Nora, his sons Bill, Eamon Jnr and Raymond, his daughter Noreen, his daughter in law Mary and granddaughter Olivia and to his sister Mary and brothers Liam and Mehaul as well as his extended family members, neighbours and wide circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Scór na nÓg – The Leitrim Scór na nÓg finals took place recently and Fenagh St Caillins GAA Club were represented in two categories. Katie Conefrey performed in the Solo Singing event and in the Table Quiz we were represented by Daniel McLoughlin, Cormac Redican, Paul Flynn and Luke Reynolds. There were no victories but all gave of their best. Thanks also to their mentors Martin Doonan and Vincent O’Rourke.


Leitrim u21 Championship Final – Commiserations to the Fenagh/Gortletteragh team who lost put to St Manachans in Saturday’s u21 final on a scoreline of 1.08 to 1.11. They finished strongly but were just unable to get the vital scores to win or to take the game to extra time. Congratulations to St Manchan’s.
Lotto – Fenagh St Caillins latest lotto draw took place on Sunday night last. There was no winner of the €2000 jackpot. Winner of €20 in the draw for yearly ticket holders was Adam Gill, €20 winners on the night were Shannon Kilkenny, Paddy Gaffney and Ray Tubman. The next draw takes place on St Stephen’s Night in Majella’s Bar when there will be extra prizes to be one for Christmas.
Congratulations – Well done to Senior player Diarmuid McHugh on winning a Connacht Inter-firms title with Vistamed. It’s been a busy few weeks for Diarmuid following his marriage to Eimear in November. He’s obviously been working on his scoring also as he chipped in with a goal in the closing stages of the game. He could be looking at a move into the forward line in 2018. Congratulations also to the Beirne family from Mohill on winning the title of Ireland’s fittest family.

AGM – Fenagh St Caillins annual general meeting took place on Saturday evening last.Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer provided detailed reports to those present outlining the various activities that took place during the year both on and off the field of play. Everybody who assisted in the running of the Club in many varied ways were acknowledged for their work. Outgoing Treasurer Gerry Kilkenny was thanked for his huge contribution to the club as Treasurer for the past 5 years. Gerry will be replaced in the role by Paul Gill and Jimmy Gilheaney. The appointment of coaches to the club’s various teams has been delayed as the report into the review of underage playing ages and 2018 age groups are awaited from Leitrim Co Board.
 
Leitrim U21 Championship Final – Fenagh/Gortletteragh u21’s recorded a 3 point victory over Sean O’Heslins on Saturday last and have qualified to play St Manchans in this year’s u21 final. The game is scheduled for Sunday next 10th December at 2pm in Pairc Sean MacDiarmada.
Leitrim GAA Coaching – Leitrim GAA is running courses for those interested becoming involved in coaching in their club. There will be (i) Foundation Award for beginners and (ii) Award 1 courses held.
