European Boxing Championships – Best of luck to our club player Dearbhla Rooney who travels to Italy this weekend to compete in the U18 Flyweight European Boxing Championships. It is a fantastic achievement for Dearbhla, her family and the Sean McDermott Boxing Club to compete at an international level and testament to their hard work and effort.

Lidl All Ireland Post Primary School Junior C Final – Best of luck to St Clare’s Comprehensive School Junior Girls team who compete in the All Ireland Final this weekend. The club has plenty of representation on the panel of players who take on Cork opposition St Mary’s High School Midleton in the decider in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe, Co Galway at 3pm on Sunday. Supporters are asked to note there is no parking at the grounds so get there early to find parking. Programmes will be available to purchase on the day, €2 each. We wish our representatives and the entire panel and management team the very best of luck.

Senior League – Our Seniors made it two wins from two with a comprehensive home win against Aughnasheelin in Boggaun on Saturday evening. They will be hoping to continue their winning ways as they travel to Aughawillan this Saturday evening for a 7pm throw in. Best of luck to the team and management. Please support.

Division 2 and 3 League – Well done to our Junior team who defeated Eslin on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-10 in Round 3 of the Division 3 League. Our Division 2 team came out the wrong side of a 2-18 to 4-13 scoreline losing by the minimum in what was a hugely entertaining game of football. Next up for the lads is an away fixture versus Cloone this Sunday at 12 noon with the Division 3 team away on the same day to Carrigallen at 2.30. Please support the team and management.

U13 Boys – Well done to this fine group of footballers who produced a brilliant performance full of heart to record an excellent victory over a gallant St Joseph’s side in the U13 15aside League play-off in Boggaun on Sunday evening. This 3-6 to 0-11 victory earned them a semi-final league spot against Mohill on Thursday evening at 6.30 in Mohill. Please show your support for our underage talent. Good luck to Adrian, Kenneth and the boys.

U17 Boys – Congratulations to our U17 team managed by Ronan Haslette and Gerry Hickey who were victorious over Dromahair on Saturday in the Division 2 Shield Final played in St Osnat’s. It was a terrific game with both teams playing an exciting brand of football with Manor pulling away in the end to win 2-12 to 3-6. Team captain Will Whelan was presented with the Shield by the Chairperson of Coiste na nÓg Liatroma, Gerry Gallogly. Well done again to Ronan, Gerry and all the team.

Wedding Bells
Congrats to former ladies club secretary Mary Coyle and her husband Jeffrey Cogan who tied the knot last Saturday in St Clare’s Church Manorhamilton. We wish them and their families health and happiness for the future

Senior & Intermediate Ladies
Well done to our Senior ladies side who recorded a win over St Josephs in Boggaun on Sunday morning. In an extremely tight encounter throughout the girls secured a four point win in their first game on the new pitch. Next up for the ladies is an away tie against Aughawillan in two weeks time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to Club Player Karen Connolly who suffered a hand injury in this game. Unfortunately in the second game of the day our Division 2 side suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Oughteragh Gaels. Next up for the Division 2 side is an away fixture against Fenagh, again in two weeks time.

U14 girls – Well done to our 14 girls team who defeated Dromahair in Boggaun on Saturday morning last. Next up for the girls is an away tie to Keeldra Gaels – date and time still to be confirmed.

St Clare’s Junior Girls – Well done to the St Clare’s Comprehensive School Junior Girls team who are through to the All Ireland Junior Final following their semi-final defeat of St Dominic’s of Belfast on Friday last on a score line of 6-6 to 3-8 in Clones. Club Academy Tournament Final – Our Club Academy Tournament Finals for 7-10 year olds took place last Friday night at St Clare’s National School. It was a terrific night from start to finish as we witnessed our stars of the future display their skills and endeavour. Congratulations to all the players who received medals and to those who were presented with the following Cups: The Sarah Gilbride Jones Memorial Cup, The Devaney Memorial Cup and the Academy Cup. Special thanks to John Conlon for allowing us to use the wonderful facilities at St Clare’s NS and all the parents for supplying the goodies for the post-match reception and presentations.

Feile Boys Team Car Wash – Our Feile boys team will be holding a fundraising Car Wash this Saturday (3rd of March) from 10am to 3pm at the Church Car Park. All proceeds will go towards the expenses to be incurred in representing the club at the National Feile Finals this summer in the host counties of Down/Louth/Meath.  Please support on the day.

They play London away this Saturday and we wish them well.  The county hurlers play Cavan in Ballinamore at 2.30 on Sunday.  This is a huge fixture for the lads and all support for the team and our 7 club representatives would be greatly appreciated.

Leitrim Supporters Club Launch – THE one and only Marty Morrissey will be the special guest at the annual Leitrim Supporters’ Club launch in the Celtic Suite of Croke Park this Thursday, January 18, at 7.30pm sharp.  The country’s favourite sports presenter is sure to draw a huge crowd to what has become a must-attend event for anyone with a Leitrim connection in the capital and surrounding counties.  This year’s gathering also includes a special recognition by the Leitrim Supporters’ Club of the three Leitrim legends who, 60 years ago this year, won Railway Cup Medals in 1958: Columba Cryan, Packy McGarty and Cathal Flynn. All three played for Leitrim in the most talked about game of them all, the famous 1958 Connacht Final v Galway.  Continuing the strong vein of talent to entertain at the gathering will be none other than super-group, Garadice, a collection of some of Leitrim’s finest musical exponents.
Organised by the Dublin Branch of the Leitrim’s Supporters Club, last year’s event drew 160 attendees and proved another highlight of the year’s social calendar.  The event will take place on Thursday, January 18, in the Celtic Suite of Croke Park with parking available in the Cusack Stand car park (accessed through the GAA museum entrance off Clonliffe Road.  Doors will open at the slightly earlier time of 7.00pm this year with the addresses and entertainment starting at 7.30pm sharp. Light refreshments will be provided at the interval with the night concluding at 9.15pm sharp. A bus will travel to Croke Park from Leitrim for the event, times as follows:  Drumshanbo Swimming Pool 4.15pm, Pairc Seán Mac Diarmada 4.40pm, Bornacoola GAA Grounds 5.00pm.  The bus is free of charge.

Organised by the Dublin Branch of the Leitrim’s Supporters Club, last year’s event drew 160 attendees and proved another highlight of the year’s social calendar.  The event will take place on Thursday, January 18, in the Celtic Suite of Croke Park with parking available in the Cusack Stand car park (accessed through the GAA museum entrance off Clonliffe Road.  Doors will open at the slightly earlier time of 7.00pm this year with the addresses and entertainment starting at 7.30pm sharp. Light refreshments will be provided at the interval with the night concluding at 9.15pm sharp. A bus will travel to Croke Park from Leitrim for the event, times as follows:  Drumshanbo Swimming Pool 4.15pm, Pairc Seán Mac Diarmada 4.40pm, Bornacoola GAA Grounds 5.00pm.  The bus is free of charge.

Leitrim GAA U20 Trials – Eligible players are asked to please take note that Leitrim Under 20 Inter County Trials will take place this Sunday the 14th of January and Sunday, January 21st at 11am in the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence.  If players have any questions please contact Joe Cox on 087 2625571.

Sympathy – Our club extends deepest sympathy to the Murphy family following the passing of Seamus Murphy, Lisnabrack, Manorhamilton. May He Rest in Peace.

Match for Mark – We were welcomed with open arms by our friends in St Mary’s, Sligo for the annual charity game “A Match For Mark” on St Stephen’s Day.  Great entertainment was provided by the underage, ladies, senior and golden oldie footballers from both clubs. Thanks to the generosity of players and supporters who were in attendance a fantastic sum of €1,590 was raised for North West Hospice. Well done to the organisers and all the players who made this possible.

Glencar Manorhamilton GAA last fortnightly lotto draw took place in SuperValu on Saturday 23rd December. Numbers drawn 10, 11, 28, 31. There was no winner of the jackpot of €2,875.  Listed below are the 5 winners of €30. Eamon Devaney, Glencar (Yearly Ticket), Marion McMorrow, Millhill, Siobhan McElroy, Millhill, Michael Clancy, Glenboy, Jack and Edel Cleary, Tullyskearney.  We also held our Christmas Draw and the winner of the hamper sponsored by Bank of Ireland was Eilis Rooney of Glenwood. The 4 other prize winners were Jane Gallagher, Sean Gilligan, Gearoid Crowley and Gerard Cullen. Congratulations to all. Thanks to everybody for your continued support.

Referee Positions – The County Board would like to recruit new referees in 2018. If this is something that is of interest to you this is a great opportunity to get involved with full training provided. Anyone interested in trying it out please contact Club Secretary, Phil Flynn.

Thank You, Jimmy – Jimmy Holohan recently retired from his position as Games Promotion Officer with Leitrim GAA. As a thank you to Jimmy, the Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club and St Clare’s Comprehensive School both made presentations to him for his many years of service to students and club members. Jimmy’s bubbling personality endeared him to all the young people in our club area who took a great interest in the GAA as a result of his efforts. We wish Jimmy well in his retirement and again thank him for his contribution to our club over two decades.
