Many congratulations to the Leitrim Ladies team and panel on their fantastic win in Croke Park today. It was a very entertaiing game and Leitrim never lost their composure something no doubt they gained from last years experience. A homecoming event will be held tomorrow evening as all teams are tonight in the City West hotel for the Post Match Banquet. Full details of the homecoming will be posted here tomorrow.

The following is match report by RTE and the photo is courtesy of Inpho

A tremendous display by the 34-year-old Ann Marie Cox, who scored eight points, ensured that Leitrim won only their second-ever adult Ladies football title and a first-ever Intermediate success at Croke Park this afternoon.

The final was certainly on a knife-edge throughout and although Wexford held a 0-05 to 0-01 lead after nine-and-a-half minutes play, they were certainly tested by a very committed and strong Leitrim team who turned a four-point deficit into a two-point interval lead.

Leitrims first and only point of the opening ten minutes came from half-forward Anna Conlon, but Wexford were strong and excellent points from Deirdre Fox, Caroline Murphy, Sharon Kehoe, Liz Evered and Kate Kelly gave Brendan Dardis charges the early advantage.

However, Leitrim suddenly bounced back strongly with four points in a three-minute spell, with veteran player Cox in excellent form from placed balls, while Eileen Donaghue and Sarah McLoughlin were also on target as the sides were level for the second time.

Wexford regained the lead thanks to a Josie Dwyer effort but Leitrim responded well.

Following a superb save by goalkeeper Louise Loughlin from a Kate Kelly shot, the Leitrim side bossed the tie until the interval with another Cox pointed free and two Sarah McLoughlin points from play ensuring a 0-08 to 0-06 half-time lead for them.

Caroline Murphy responded well for Wexford with the first point after the restart but Leitrim still held the lead. Yet the purple and gold-clad side quickly broke in front thanks to a well-worked goal from Kate Kelly, who shook off the challenge of two defenders to score.

But Wexfords lead was to be short-lived as the free-taking machine that is Ann Marie Cox scored her sides next four points. Coxs dead ball prowess, along with scores from Eileen Donaghue and Sarah McLoughlin, saw Leitrim build up a 0-15 to 1-08 lead.

Wexford managed to point two frees in quick succession but Leitrim continued to remain strong and an excellent point from play from Cox summed up Leitrims day.

Wexford never gave up but Leitrims defence remained resilient and they went on to lift a first adult title since 1988.

On behalf of all the Clubs and the County Board Id like to wish the Ladies Team the very best of luck on Sunday in Croke Park. Its a remarkable achievement to make it to an All Ireland Final two years in a row especially since this is a step up from last year to Intermediate. The game is at 2pm and if you cannot make it to the game you can watch it on TG4, listen to it on local radio or you can follow the scores on our Live scoreboard.

Best wishes also to Linda Tighe & Naomi Lee, who play this year for London, in their Final against Kilkenny which is at the earlier time of 12pm.

tonight (Thursday) will be the last opportunity for supporters to buy tickets in Leitrim for Sundays All Ireland Final when they go on sale in the Community Centre in Manorhamilton from 8.30pm to 10.00pm. The demand for tickets has grown steadily over the past two weeks with over 500 tickets sold in Creegans of Cloone on Tuesday night. Reports from all areas indicate a huge level of demand as confirmed by the fact that to date Leitrim have proportionately outsold tickets over all other five counties participating on the day.

Anyone who has missed the chance to get tickets in Leitrim – dont despair.. Tickets are available for sale on the day and your support would be much appreciated.

The team had their final training session in Cloone last night and the spirit in the camp is very upbeat with all looking forward to a successful conclusion to the season.

We would encourage all supporters to bring as much colour and atmosphere to Croke Park as possible on Sunday and and lift Leitrim across the line as the "16th (wo)man"

Come on Leitrim..

Kiltubrid 2 – 3

Sundays Leitrim senior club final in Páirc Seán saw St. Marys win by two points over Kiltubrid after a hard fought battle.

St. Marys held the upper hand on Kiltubrid from early on in the game but still struggled to build up a clear lead.

A goal by Kiltubrid sub John Paul ODonaghue cut St. Marys lead to the minimum within four minutes of the restart.

But St. Marys responded with three unanswered points over the next seventeen minutes whenÓgene Bohan converted two frees and Paul McGreevy shot over from play.

Chris Carroll reduced St. Marys lead to a point once again when he shot a 24th minute Kiltubrid goal.

Gene Bohan responded with a St. Marys free conversion in the next minute, which proved to be the games final score.

3 Clubs are now celebrating as the Junior A, Intermediate and Senior Championship titles went to new homes for 2007. In the Junior A game Annaduff overcame a strong Carrigallen challenge to win by a goal that was scored in injury time. This was an enthralling high Scóring game that ended Annaduff 2-11 Carrigallen 1-11.

On Sunday in Paric Sean with the stand full to capacity and many supporters around the ground it was the turn of the Intermediate and Senior Finalists.

The Intermediate encounter between Drumreilly and Aughavas failed to live to expectations and Drumreilly wont mind as they maintianed the lead throughout most of the game and will now play in the Senior grade for 2008. See Full Match report by PJ Leddy.

The Senior game was a better affair with St. Marys determined to make amends for last years loss and that they did. Like Drumreilly they also commanded the game once they got in front and always managed to get the points at vital times. Although a few defensive errors almost let Kiltubrid back in contention as a the last few minutes brought back some memories/nightmares for a few on and off the field. See Full Match report by PJ Leddy.

Congratulations to the 3 Champions and commiserations to the losing parties.
