John P. Sorohan Mount Merrion, Dublin / Gortletteragh, Leitrim RIP
The death has occurred of John P. Sorohan Mount Merrion, Dublin / Gortletteragh, Leitrim. John was hugely respected firstly as an engineer in RTE with responsibility for outside broadcasting. Johns brothers Joe, Frank and Mel set up Sorohan builders in Dublin and are acknowledged as one of the best builders in the city, a reputation that was built on hard work, decency and respect for all stakeholders involved. All the Sorohan family were steeped in Gortletteragh and always had a deep affection for Leitrim and its people. They supported all things Leitrim and have been generous supporters of Leitrim GAA over many years.
John was a former chair of the board of RTÉ and passed away at the age of 90.
John chaired the RTÉ Authority (which preceded the RTÉ board) between 1990 and 1995, and also previously served as Assistant Director General at the broadcaster.
