Congratulations to Mohill who won the Under 14 Championship 15-a-side Final

Congratulations to Mohill who beat Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins in the Under 14 (15-a-side) Championship Final in Pairc Sean on Sunday evening last completing a League and Championship double inÓgreat style.

Mohill started very strong and the midfield pairing of Jamie Stenson & Keith Beirne were excellent for Mohill and they provided attack after attack while the likes of Jamie Cosgrove & RonanÓgordan proved to be very efficient in front of goal.

Ballinamore spent most of the game playing in defence trying to restrict the number of Scóring chances their opponents had with the result being Ballinamore found it very difficult to make Scóring opportunities.  Peter Reynolds & Kevin Mullen were among Ballinamores best performers but that was not enough to stem the seemingly continuous Mohill attacks that were being launched.

Mohill opened the Scóring with a free from Keith Beirne followed by a point by Ethan Harkin from play. Mohill extended their lead in the eight minute with a goal from Jamie Cosgrove who confidentlyn dispatched his shot past Ballinamore goalkeeper Darren Maxwell. After a seven minute scoreless period Mohill extended their lead with points from Keithn Beirne and RonanÓgordan.

With ten minutes remaining in the the half Ballinamore got their first point from a free taken by Peter Reynolds but Mohill replied with three points one from Jamie Cosgrove and two from Keith Beirne and two minutes to go in the first half Ballinamore got their first goal when Barry McGovern delivered a perfect diagonal pass into the path of Daire Murphy who dispatched his shot passed Cal Rawlinson and into the Mohill goal but unfortunately for Ballinamore, Mohill went up the other end of the pitch and RonanÓgordon lobbed the ball into the back of the Ballinamore,s goal giving Mohill their second goal ending the first half Mohill 2-07 Ballinamore 1-01.

The second half lacked the intensity of the first half and it was clear that Mohill would not relinquish their lead. Mohill extended their lead with two points from RonanÓgordon and with nine minutes to go RonanÓgot Mohills third goal.

Ballinamore kept working although the game was long over as a contest but were arguably the better team in the closing ten minutes. Kevin Mullen looked very lively and having got a point was fouled three minutes later when he went for goal and was awarded a penalty which was duly converted by Peter Reynolds.

Mohill completed the Scóring with a point from RonanÓgordon in the final minute to give them a final score of 3-11 to Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins 2-02.
