Tain League Semi Final

Táin League Semi Final

Cluainin Iomaint travelled to Cookstown to play Antrim side Cushendun in the Táin semi final last Saturday. The game was played at the wonderful sports facility of the Mid Ulster Sports Arena. Cluainin were slow to get started and trailed at half time on a scoreline of 1.05 to 0.04. Niall McLoughlin bet the goal keeper with a shot but a defender dived to turn the sliotar around the post in what would have given the Manor men hope going into the second half. In the second half substitute Val Cronin made a good impact and was a constant threat in front of goal. Cronin made a spectacular catch to hand pass the ball to Karl McDermott who seemed to finish the sliotar to the net with great execution but unfortunately the referee and his umpires did not agree and the goal was disallowed for hitting the side netting. Best for Manor were Patrick Clancy and Patrick Clerkin who were more than a match for the skillful Antrim team. Cluainin will be disappointed with their performance but they were up against a tough and skillful team who moved the sliotar quickly but the young hurlers who lined out for Manor showed they are the future of Leitrim hurling. Final score Cluainin 0.05 Cushendun 4.15 Manor will play Tubbercurry next Sunday at 2pm in Sligos Dermot Molloy League.
