Glencar Manorhamilton Club Notes w/c Monday 28 August 2017

New Arrival

The club extends hearty congrats to Dympna and Dermot O’Rourke on the safe arrival of their baby boy – a wee brother for Kate and Hannah.

Engagement

We were all delighted to hear that our good friend Gazza finally plucked up the courage to propose to the lovely Fiona Evans.  Everyone in the club wish Gerard and Fiona a lifetime of health and happiness.

Leaving Certs

Congrats to our players who received their Leaving Cert results and we wish them all every success as they embark on the next chapter in their lives.

Sympathy

The club extend heartfelt sympathy to the McGinley family Letterbreen and formerly Carrick Road Manorhamilton following the passing of Gerald McGinley.  May he Rest in Peace.

Our hurlers are currently doing a Guess the Score competition for the All Ireland Hurling Final between Galway and Waterford taking place this weekend.  €2 for a guess and €50 to the winner.  Please support.

All Ireland Final Tickets

The members draw for All Ireland tickets took place at the Club Executive Meeting on Monday night last.  Congrats to Karen Connolly and Marie Keaney who were the winners of the Hurling tickets and Collette Fox and James Johnston who came out of the hat for the Football tickets.

The Glencar Manor fortnightly Lotto Draw took place in Killasnett Co-Op on 23/8/17.  Numbers drawn 1, 24, 25, 29.  There was no jackpot winner.  Well done to those who won €30 consolation prizes:  Grainne McTernan (Yearly Ticket), Michael Davitt, A Roberts, Austin McManus (Yearly Ticket) and Alan Sweeney (Yearly Ticket). The jackpot now stands at €6,750. Thank you for your continued support.

Kinawley Football Tournament

Saturday was a wonderful day for our U8 and U10 teams as they competed with the best at the Annual U8 & U10 Kinawley Tournament in Co Fermanagh.  Our boys and girls were magnificent ambassadors for the club – playing delightful football, providing great enjoyment for their families and filling their coaches with a great sense of pride.  Both teams reached their respective Cup Finals against Derrygonnelly Harps with our U10s coming up just short on the day and our U8s crowned Cup winners. Well done again to both teams and their coaches Rob Campbell and Kenneth McMorrow (U8s) and Dominic Kelly and James Glancy (U10s).  Finally, we wish to express our sincere thanks and admiration to the Kinawley GAA Club who hosted this fantastic tournament and for looking after all our players, mentors and their families so well with their welcome and hospitality.

Unwanted Clothes Collection Fundraiser

Anyone wishing to make donations of unwanted clothes can do so up until this Friday night by contacting Dermot McMorrow on 08601768533 to arrange same.  The clothes are being collected this Saturday.  Many thanks to everybody who made donations to date.  We are very thankful for the support received from our club members and members of the public.

Club Camp

We were astonished by the generosity of our club members in volunteering in such large numbers for our recent Club Camp.  The success of the camp would not of been possible this year without the willing co-operation of the following people: Kevin McManus, Helen McManus, Patrick McMorrow, Dominic Kelly, Ciaran Sheridan, Fintan McGourty, Caoimhe McManus, Ronan Flynn, Aaron Hickey, Cian Killalea, Ruairi Sheridan, Jack Faulkner, Darren Gilmartin, Peter Poniard, Nathan McMorrow, Lily Sweeney, Thomas McDonald, Gavin Maguire, Luke Sheridan, Padhraic Corrigan, Collette Fox, Sheila McMorrow, Brennagh Harte, Eimear O’Connor, Shona Sheridan, Kate Johnston, Tara McLaughlin, Dearbhla McManus, Emma McLaughlin, Aisling Faulkner, Aoife Gilmartin, Leah Fox, Amanda Sweeney, Grainne O’Connor, Aoife Feeney, Cliodhna Boylan, Hannah Johnston, Alva Sheridan and Ethan Clancy.  A million thanks to each and every person.

Minor & U16 Ladies

Our Minor Ladies played St Phelims on Tuesday evening 29th August in Boggaun and they are at home again tomorrow evening (Thursday 31st) at 7pm versus St Brigids.  Please support.  The U16 girls have their first championship game this Sunday 3rd September away to Allen Gaels at 11am.  Best of luck to Neil, Marie and the girls.

Wedding Bells

Best of Luck to club player Melissa Hewitt and Adrian Reynolds who tie the knot this Saturday in St Clare’s Church Manorhamilton.  Good luck and best wishes for the future.

Senior Ladies

Hard luck to our Shane, Padraig and our senior ladies team who suffered a one point defeat to St Joseph’s on Sunday morning last in Leitrim Village. A great crowd turned out to support the ladies and were treated to a nail biting, tightly fought game as the girls fought to the end but unfortunately didn’t secure the win.

Championship

Well done to our Senior and Junior B teams who recorded weekend championship victories over Drumreilly and St Mary’s respectively.  Our Seniors play St Mary’s this Saturday evening at 5.15 in Ballinamore to decide who tops the group while our Junior B’s have now qualified for the semi-finals of their championship and will play Fenagh at a date yet TBC.  Best of luck also to our Junior A team who contest the Quarter Finals of the Junior A Championship this Sunday against neighbours Melvin Gaels at 12noon with venue TBC – check our Facebook page for confirmation.  Please support our teams and good luck to all.

Underage Championships

Our U13s got back to winning ways with a comprehensive win over Mohill in Boggaun last Thursday evening and unfortunately received a walk-over from Ballinamore SOH last Monday evening.  Despite holding a commanding half time lead our U17s suffered a 2 point defeat at home to Allen Gaels on Monday last.  Final Score 4-7 to 4-9.  On Friday evening at 7pm our U13s play Leitrim Gaels in Boggaun.  Please continue your support to our underage players.
