Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 20/12/2017

Merry Christmas – Season’s greetings to all who represent and support our club. We extend good wishes and sincere thanks to John Connolly, Philip Rooney and Willie Donnellan in the Leitrim Observer for all their coverage of our games during 2017.

Match for Mark – Please keep St Stephen’s Day free as we will join up with our friends in St Mary’s GAA Club Sligo for our Match For Mark in the memory of the late Mark Rooney who represented both clubs. The theme this year is Linking the Ages. At 1pm St Mary’s vs Glencar/Manorhamilton (Selection of players from 2007-2017 roughly!!!!). This will then be followed by a short exhibition game where the St Mary’s and Glencar Manor U8, U10 and U12 teams will display their skills for all to see. The finale will see all the “Golden Oldies” dust down their puma kings and battle it out for 30 mins. Refreshments will be available in the clubhouse, with all live horse racing and premiership matches on the TV!!! There will be a bucket collection on the day with all monies raised going to charity. Last year’s game was a fantastic occasion and we hope to see you all again this year.

Leitrim Senior Club Hurler of the Year – Our club is delighted and honoured that Kevin Clerkin has been chosen as the Leitrim Senior Club Hurler of the Year. Kevin’s talent is recognised throughout the county and beyond and this award is a glowing testament to that. He had a fantastic season for Cluainín Iomaint and the Leitrim Hurlers which involved a memorable outing in Croke Park for the Lory Meagher Cup Final. Comhghairdeas leat a Caoimhín.

Lotto – Our last Lotto draw took place in Biddy’s Bar. Numbers drawn were 1, 6, 12, 28. There was no winner of the jackpot of €2,800. Five consolation prizes went to Carla Nealon (Yearly Ticket), Ryan Feely C/O Declan Feely, Margaret McDermott Manorhamilton, Mark Usher Enniskillen and Felim Gurn Manorhamilton. Many thanks to everybody for their continued support. The jackpot now stands at €2,875 and we will also have some extra prizes for our Christmas Draw taking place this Saturday 23 September in SuperValu.

Sympathy – Our club extends deepest sympathy to the Miney family following the passing of Gabriel Miney, Amorset, Manorhamilton. May He Rest in Peace.

Christmas Cheer at our Academy – We were reminded again last Friday night of how VERY, VERY Special our Academy is when Santa visited to give each child a small gift in recognition of all their hard work throughout the season. This is undoubtedly one of our favourite events of the year. It is so rewarding for us to watch the children grow and blossom in our care. Thank you to all the parents and coaches who make this possible. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER and long may an occasion like this last.

National Club Draw Tickets – The club has an allocation of National Club Draw tickets. 20 Fantastic prizes on offer with first prize a car. Tickets which cost only €10 are available from Phil Flynn or Collette Fox. All prizes are provided by Croke Park and all monies raised from this draw are retained by the club so please support.

Ireland’s Fittest Family – Congrats to the Beirne Family on winning Ireland’s Fittest Family. They were a credit to Mohill and Leitrim.
