Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 27/09/2018

Junior B Championship – The Juniors bowed out of the championship on Saturday last when Aughawillan proved the superior team in the county semi-final in Ballinamore. The early exchanges pointed to a close encounter, but two goals in the ten minute period leading up to half-time gave the Willies a comfortable 2-7 to 0-4 half time lead. The Bors woes were added to as they were reduced to 14 men for the entirety of the 2nd half. However an early Brian Conroy goal in the second period, brought the Bors back into contention and at one stage, the lead had been reduced to just three points. However, the Willies rallied in the closing stages and added a couple of crucial scores to seal a 7 point victory – 2-13 to 1-9. Team was Conor Hackett, Tony Shanley, Conor Mc Cauley, Luke Jones, Gearoid Mulligan, Mervyn Howard, Robert O Beirne, Michael Duignan, Anthony Mulligan (0-2), Noel Mc Enroe, Shane Conroy, Roy Keenan, Jonathan Duffy (0-1), Brian Conroy (1-5) and Liam Jones (0-1). Subs used were Mark Mc Closkey, Ciaran Campbell, Kevin Shanley and John Shanley. Our thanks to manager Brian Mallon and to Aidan Reilly for their work with this team all year.

Senior Championship – We face Dromahair on Sunday morning next at 12noon in Drumshanbo in the Relegation final. With our senior status at stake, we hope there is a good turn out to support the Bors.
