Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 29/04/2019

The Big Hello – The Big Hello is a national community weekend that will take place over the course of this May Bank holiday weekend coming. The initiative is to strengthen community ties and also tackle social isolation. The Bornacoola GAA club and the Bornacoola Community Development Association will be running a great social event in the Bornacoola Community centre on Sunday, May 5th from 3 to 5pm. Expect music, food and chat, children’s entertainent and most of all a chance to socialise with neighbours and friends. The event is FREE, and is meant for all ages and all parts of the community so make sure you get along on Sunday and encourage your neighbours and friends to attend to as there is a great couple of hours in store.

Division 4 – The Junior team game with Eslin last weekend was postponed – it will now take place later in the year. However, we return to action this Saturday when Cloone are the visitors to Dromod for a 7pm throw-in.

Ladies Win – Bornacoola/St Mary’s earned their first league points of the Division 2 League on Friday evening last as they accounted for Fenagh in their second match of the season when after a storming second-half performance they finished victorious on a 4-9 to 3-3 scoreline at Páirc Naomh Muire. After a very evenly balanced first half the sides retired to the interval level at 0-4 to 1-1. However, a third-quarter blitz on the visitors’ goals yielded the match-winning scores and despite a Fenagh rally in the closing stages the defence held firm to record the victory. The girls travel to Manorhamilton on Sunday next for a round three encounter with the home side.

On duty on Friday evening last were Caroline Guckian, Isabelle Chandler, Jasmine Maye, Enya Guckian, Joanne McGushin, Lorraine Guckian, Hannah Reynolds, Alison McKeon, Kasey Bruen, Sara Crowe (0-1), Elise Bruen, Rachel McGarry (0-1), Sarah Reynolds (2-1), Aisling Leahy (2-3), Nadine Hackett (0-3).
