We are Giving Back – Ireland Lights Up with the GAA is a national initiative to improve the health of the country through GAA clubs and communities across Ireland. This year to help give back to the community and surrounding areas, Carrigallen GAA is coming on board with Operation Transformation for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday from the 17th January – 21st February 2019 our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk between 7pm – 9pm. We want everyone to come and join for Ireland Lights Up 2019!

Michael Kenny U13 Tournament – Well done to St. Joseph’s (Arva/Killeshandra) who defeated Fenagh St. Caillin’s in the final of the Michael Kenny Tournament on Bank Holiday Monday last. Well done also to our own St. Joseph’s who defeated Colmcille/Dromard in the 3rd place play-off. The spectators were treated to a wonderful display of flowing football from all four teams. Thanks to our referees James McCaffrey and Patrick Guckian for officiating. Thanks to Paula Kiernan for the music and everyone within the club who assisted in the running of the event from setting up the pitches to helping with the food in the kitchen. All proceeds collected on the day were in aid of the Leukemia Trust with in excess of €1200 raised.

U15 Championship – Hard luck to St. Joseph’s U15’s who were defeated in the championship semi-final by Melvin Gaels earlier today. We got off to a terrible start, conceding 3 goals in the first 10 mins, but fought back admirably to level the game with 2 mins to go. However, it was not to be with our opponents scoring the last 2 points of the game. Final score: St. Joseph’s 3-08 Melvin Gaels 3-10. Well done to all the players for their commitment throughout the season.

U15 – Well done to our U15’s on a hard fought win away to Fenagh St. Caillin’s last Friday evening. Our opponents pushed us all the way and led by 3 points with 10 mins to play. Michael Kenny Tournament – Our 4th annual Michael Kenny Tournament takes place in Carrigallen on October Bank Holiday Monday. This year’s tournament will be played at U13 level with Fenagh St. Caillins, Colmcille, St. Joseph’s (Arva/Killeshandra) & St. Joseph’s (Carrigallen/Aughavas) taking part. Both semi finals will throw in at 11am with final and 3rd place game throwing in at 12. Admission is optional with proceeds going to the Leukemia Trust and as always we ask people to come out and support this worthy cause. Refreshments will be served on the day. Thanks again to everyone for their support of this event over the years, looking forward to another great day  as always

 

Congratulations – Well done to Fenagh St caillins on winning the intermediate County final on Sunday

U15 Championship – Our under 15’s defeated Annaduff on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-09 last week in the championship. We play Fenagh in our final group game this weekend with a place in the semi-final at stake.

U7 – Well done to Ciara Harrington and Bryn Coyne who represented St. Joseph’s U7 nursery at the County Final last Sunday.
U9 – St. Joseph’s U9 boys and girls teams competed in the U9 Festival of Football in the Centre of Excellence last Saturday. Both teams performed impressively in all their games. Well done to all the players and coaches involved. Well done also to Enda Lyons for organising such a well run event.

U13’s – St Joseph’s U13s made the journey to Cremartin in Monaghan on Sunday to take on the home team in their own tournament. Two evenly matched teams played out a very competitive match in which the lead changed hands numerous times. Unfortunately for St Joseph’s it was the home team who emerged victorious on a final scoreline of Cremartin 3-08 St Joseph’s 1-10. Thanks to the Cremartin club for their hospitality after the match and to Aughavas native Brendan Mc Kiernan for arranging the invite to his adopted club.

U15’s – Our U15’s made the long journey to Bundoran to play Melvin Gaels on Saturday morning last. In a thoroughly entertaining game, which ebbed and flowed throughout, we lost out by the narrowest of margins after a nail biting finish. Final score: St. Joseph’s 5-08 Melvin Gaels 5-09. Next game is away to Kiltubrid on Saturday at 12 noon.
Training – Final training of the season for our U7, U9 & U11’s takes place in Carrigallen at 10am on Saturday..

U15 – St. Joseph’s U15’s had a mixed weekend in the U15 championship. On Friday, we played Gortletteragh and went down to an injury time goal from the visitors. On Sunday, we travelled to Drumkeerin and had a comprehensive victory. Next Saturday we have an away trip to Melvin Gaels with details to be confirmed.
