Allen Gaels GAA Club Notes 24/10/2017

Newtowngore Engineering U-17’s: The lads lost out to Leitrim Gaels in the 13 aside championship final the weekend before last but they put in a great effort all summer. They were beaten by a physically stronger team but with the bulk of the squad underage for at least another year they will have better times ahead. We wish Aaron McCawley a speedy recovery after sustaining a serious injury in the semi-final which ruled him out of the decider. Well done to all the players and to Micky, Fergus & Noel.

U-16 Girls: The girls game fell victim to the weather at the weekend. Best of luck to them in their remaining fixtures.

25 Card Drive: Allen Gaels 25 Card Game continues every  Sunday evening in Aras Phadraig at 8:30pm. Please note the change of venue. Refreshments served. All welcome.

Lotto: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot on October 9th & the numbers drawn were 06-13-21-24. The 5 prize winners of €20 each were: Rosie Casserly, Drumshanbo; Peter Lynch, Derryhallow; Delia Mann, Jamestown; Bernie Gaffney, Drumkeeran and Andrew & Hazel Riley, Ballinaglera. The jackpot now stands at €1,500. There was no draw on October 16th as bingo was cancelled due to the weather and we will be back to normal this week. Also a reminder that annual lotto tickets are available from any club officers for €85 for the year.

Dunnes Bar League Finals: Congratulations to Mohill & Ballinaglera on their wins in the Division 1 & Division 2 leagues respectively. Commiserations to Melvin Gaels and Leitrim Gaels. It was an especially important victory for Ballinaglera and their first silverware since 1996 so very well done to all concerned.

Table Quiz: A Table Quiz in aid of repairs to St. John’s Church, Church St., Drumshanbo will be held next Thursday, 26th October in The Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo, starting at 9pm.  Table of Four – €40. There will be prize money and lots of spot prizes. Question – Setter: Brendan Canning. Question master: Dessy Doyle. St. John’s Church was built in 1829, and is one of Drumshanbo’s oldest buildings. Your support would be very welcome.

New Arrival: Congratulations to Clare & Donal McCabe on the birth of their daughter, Ailish Mary, last week.
