Glencar/Manorhamilton Club Notes 02/10/2017

County Senior Championship Final
Our senior team enter the Páirc Seán arena on Sunday for the biggest day in the Leitrim GAA Calendar.  We as a club are so proud to be part of this special day.  We are more proud of our senior team than words can express.  We will witness that pride in the voice and colour of our wonderful supporters on Sunday in Carrick on Shannon.  See you there.  Good luck to Killian our team captain and all the lads and Aidan and Sean who have guided the team on their journey to the Connacht Gold Senior Championship Final.  Throw in 3.30 pm with the game preceded by the Fox Monumentals Intermediate Championship Final between Aughnasheelin and Leitrim Gaels at 1.30 pm.

Junior B Championship Semi Final
There was great excitement in Carrick on Shannon last Saturday evening when our Junior B team defeated Fenagh in the Championship semi-final. A superb 2nd half performance saw the lads overturn a two-point half deficit to run out three point winners.  Final score 0-10 to 1-10.  This Saturday at 5pm they play Mohill in the Championship Final.  Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for the venue.  We wish the team and management of Dermot McMorrow, John Sheridan and Sean Watters the very best of luck.  Please come along in full voice and colour to set the tone for the weekend.

U15 Shield Final
Best of luck to our U15 team who play Dromahair in the Shield Final this Saturday at 2pm in Glencar Community Park.   Please show your support for our underage talent.

Hats Flags and Headbands
Club merchandise is on sale in Killasnett Co-Op and SuperValu.  Let’s get the club colours flying at home and at our two finals this weekend!  Great to see Seamus Devaney, Eugene Clancy and Emma Louise Clancy putting the club bunting up around the town last week and the signs are starting to go up and the flags are starting to fly!  Let’s ALL get in on the act and not be the odd one out.  Get your flags flying and banners up! The big matches are this weekend.

Sponsorship
Businesses from the locality and surrounding areas have been so generous with their financial support to our club in the lead-up to the county finals this weekend.  We sincerely thank them for their generosity and urge our followers to support them in business.  We will acknowledge all our sponsors on our Facebook Page.

U13 County Champions
What an absolutely brilliant performance from this group of fine young men who came out on top in their U13 County Final against a gallant St. Marys side on Saturday morning in Ballinamore.  It is great to see all the hard work being carried out at underage in the club reap rewards.  Dominic, Stuart and Kevin have invested a lot of their voluntary time coaching these players over a number of years and the club and parents really appreciate their commitment, dedication and expertise.  On Saturday the team played an attractive brand of football that was a joy to behold.  They were commanding throughout the game with an all-round team performance ensuring they were crowned the inaugural winners of this competition.  Gabriel Gilbride Jones was the proud captain who had the honour of lifting the cup on behalf of his teammates on this special occasion for our club.  Well done Gabriel.  Final Score 2-14 to 1-2.

U17 Championship Semi Final
Hard luck to our U17 boys who were defeated in the 13 aside championship semi-final by Allen Gaels in Drumshanbo on Saturday last.  They had a great season and should be proud of their performances in the competition.  Special thanks to Dermot McMorrow, Colm Farrell and Adrian Croal for coaching the team all year.

Lotto Jackpot Winner
The Glencar Manor Lotto Jackpot has been won by Shane D’Arcy, Glencar.  The draw took place in Biddy’s on Monday evening.  The winning numbers were 3, 14, 19 and 23.  Well done to Shane who wins €6,800.

Junior A Championship
Our Junior A team have qualified for the semi-finals where they will play Carrigallen.  No details of this fixture as yet but glad to report the lads are working away.

New Arrivals
We extend heartfelt congrats to our two senior footballers who became Daddy’s recently.  Brian McDonald and Mary Kerrigan welcomed baby Sadie while Thomas Coyle and Máire Kelly welcomed baby Chloe.

Ladies Division 1 League
Hard luck to our Senior Ladies who lost their last league game to Aughawillan in an away fixture on Sunday morning.  Despite leading by five points at halftime the girls lost by four points.  They had plenty of chances to get a result from the game but found the Aughawillan goalkeeper, Maeve Quinn in inspired form.  Many thanks to the large travelling support who turned up for the fixture on a wet morning in Drumreilly.  Best of luck to Aughawillan in the League Final.

Hurling
Our magnificent hurlers booked their place in the Leitrim Championship Final when accounting for Ballinamore on Sunday in the Leitrim GAA Centre of Excellence.  Final Score 2-13 to 0-5.  The County Final is scheduled for Saturday 14th October against Carrick Hurling Club.   Be sure to keep the date free.

Minor/U16 Ladies
The minor girls have one remaining championship group game against Fenagh/Kiltubrid when they will be hoping to maintain their 100% winning record.  No details of the fixture as yet.  The U16s await the commencement of their championship after the postponement of their scheduled games to-date.

Academy Training
Academy training continues on Friday nights from 6.30 to 7.30pm in Boggaun with large numbers in attendance.  The focus is on learning the skills and making friends through fun and games.  New players welcome at any time.  Check our Facebook Page for times.
