Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 13/12/2017

Match for Mark – Please keep St Stephen’s Day free as we will join up with our friends in St Mary’s GAA Club Sligo for our Match For Mark in the memory of the late Mark Rooney who represented both clubs.  The theme this year is Linking the Ages.  At 1pm St Mary’s vs Glencar/Manorhamilton (Selection of players from 2007-2017 roughly!!!!).  This will then be followed by a short exhibition game where the St Mary’s and Glencar Manor U8, U10 and U12 teams will display their skills for all to see.  The finale will see all the “Golden Oldies” dust down their puma kings and battle it out for 30 mins.  Refreshments will be available in the clubhouse, with all live horse racing and Premiership matches on the TV!!!  There will be a bucket collection on the day with all monies raised going to charity.  Current and former players are asked to contact Dominic Kelly if they are available on the day. Last year’s game was a fantastic occasion and we hope to see you all again this year.

Lotto – Our last Lotto draw took place in Heraghty’s.  Numbers drawn were 12, 13, 17, 23.  There was no winner of the jackpot.  Five consolation prizes went to Declan McCloskey (Yearly Ticket), Kevin McManus Donaghmore, Diarmuid Keaney, C/O Killasnett Creamery, Pat Dolan, Newtownmanor and Padraig Keegan.  Many thanks to everybody for their continued support.  The jackpot now stands at €2,800.

Ordination – It was a very special day for the Kelly family and our parish last Sunday as Padraig Kelly was ordained a Deacon in Clare’s Church.  We extend our best wishes to Padraig and his family.

Minor Girls Connacht Final – Despite a very spirited performance our girls lost the Connacht Final to Corofin on a scoreline of 4-13 to 2-10 in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence on Sunday last. This scoreline didn’t reflect the closeness of the contest, full match report in this week’s Leitrim Observer.  Suffice to say we are so proud of this talented group of players who represented our club and county on the provincial stage with distinction. Congrats to Muireann Devaney who was the deserving recipient of the Player of the Match Award.

Sympathy – Our club extends deepest sympathy to the Bredin family following the death of Mary Bredin, Tullyskerney, Manorhamilton.  May She Rest in Peace.

Club Academy – Every Friday night our Club Academy for girls and boys takes place in St Clare’s Secondary School Gymnasium unless otherwise notified. U7’s from 6-7pm, U9’s from 7-8pm and U11’s from 8-9pm.  New players are welcomed every week.

National Club Draw Tickets – The club has an allocation of National Club Draw tickets.  20 Fantastic prizes on offer with first prize a car.  Tickets which cost only €10 are available from Phil Flynn or Collette Fox.  All prizes are provided by Croke Park and all monies raised from this draw are retained by the club so please support.
