Bornacoola GAA Club Notes 12/03/2018

Swan Bar Division 4 – It was a case of the Great Escape for the Junior team as a late late rally salvaged victory from the jaws of defeat in last Saturday evening’s opening round of the Division 4 league when Kiltubrid were the visitors to Dromod. An even first half saw the Bors hold a slender 0-3 to 0-2 lead at half time; two goals for the visitors in the second period left them 4 points clear entering the dying minutes. However, a late fisted goal from midfielder Colm Farrell, and two late points, including the winner from super sub Marc Mc Keon, ensured the Bors emerged with a narrow 1-8 to 2-4 victory. Team on duty was Feargal Mc Gill, Kevin Mulligan, David Mulligan, Patrick Kozak, Liam Mulligan, Mervyn Howard, Gearoid Mulligan, Ronan Mulligan, Colm Farrell, Roy Keenan, Shane Conroy, Tony Shanley, Danny Farrell, Trevor Howard and Robert O’Beirne. Subs used were Luke Jones, Marc Mc Keon, Kevin Shanley and John Barnes Shanley.

Registration Day – Our 2018 Club Registration Day will take place on Saturday 24th March for all underage, for Mothers and others and for anyone interested in finding out more or getting involved with club. We’ll have further details in the coming weeks.

Minors – Rinn Gaels travelled to Manorhamilton on Saturday morning last for the 3rd Round of the minor league. Unfortunately, it was the hosts who had the better of a hard-fought game with Glencar/Manorhamilton emerging with a 3-12 to 3-5 victory.

Sympathies – Our deepest sympathies are extended to the O Riordan (Clooncolory) and Reynolds (Gortletteragh) families on the passing of Neil’s mother Lilly in Dublin last week. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sí.

Scór – Well done to our Question Time team of Aidan Dockery, Michael Stenson, John Woods and Padraig Reilly who captured the County title in Drumshanbo on Saturday night last and to Aidan who triumphed in the Recitation also. The Connacht final takes place on Bank Holiday Monday next in Lecarrow, Co Roscommon. It was a double night of celebration for Michael Patrick as he claimed €2000 in the Leitrim GAA Supporters Club draw on the same night!
