Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 10/04/2018

European Boxing Championships – Best of luck to our club player Dearbhla Rooney who travels to Italy this weekend to compete in the U18 Flyweight European Boxing Championships. It is a fantastic achievement for Dearbhla, her family and the Sean McDermott Boxing Club to compete at an international level and testament to their hard work and effort.

Lidl All Ireland Post Primary School Junior C Final – Best of luck to St Clare’s Comprehensive School Junior Girls team who compete in the All Ireland Final this weekend. The club has plenty of representation on the panel of players who take on Cork opposition St Mary’s High School Midleton in the decider in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe, Co Galway at 3pm on Sunday. Supporters are asked to note there is no parking at the grounds so get there early to find parking. Programmes will be available to purchase on the day, €2 each. We wish our representatives and the entire panel and management team the very best of luck.

Senior League – Our Seniors made it two wins from two with a comprehensive home win against Aughnasheelin in Boggaun on Saturday evening. They will be hoping to continue their winning ways as they travel to Aughawillan this Saturday evening for a 7pm throw in. Best of luck to the team and management. Please support.

Division 2 and 3 League – Well done to our Junior team who defeated Eslin on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-10 in Round 3 of the Division 3 League. Our Division 2 team came out the wrong side of a 2-18 to 4-13 scoreline losing by the minimum in what was a hugely entertaining game of football. Next up for the lads is an away fixture versus Cloone this Sunday at 12 noon with the Division 3 team away on the same day to Carrigallen at 2.30. Please support the team and management.

U13 Boys – Well done to this fine group of footballers who produced a brilliant performance full of heart to record an excellent victory over a gallant St Joseph’s side in the U13 15aside League play-off in Boggaun on Sunday evening. This 3-6 to 0-11 victory earned them a semi-final league spot against Mohill on Thursday evening at 6.30 in Mohill. Please show your support for our underage talent. Good luck to Adrian, Kenneth and the boys.

U17 Boys – Congratulations to our U17 team managed by Ronan Haslette and Gerry Hickey who were victorious over Dromahair on Saturday in the Division 2 Shield Final played in St Osnat’s. It was a terrific game with both teams playing an exciting brand of football with Manor pulling away in the end to win 2-12 to 3-6. Team captain Will Whelan was presented with the Shield by the Chairperson of Coiste na nÓg Liatroma, Gerry Gallogly. Well done again to Ronan, Gerry and all the team.
