Fenagh St Caillin’s GAA Club Notes 25/10/2018

Leitrim Intermediate Championship Final – Congratulations to the Fenagh St Caillins team who last Sunday was crowned Leitrim Intermediate Champions for 2018. While there were mixed emotions following the previous weeks draw and display there was no repeat this time around with the team producing a top quality performance when it mattered most to ensure the Frank Reynolds Cup would rest for the winter in Fenagh. To scenes of unbridled joy, team captain and the man of the match Ryan O’Rourke lifted the cup to end a 44 year wait for a Fenagh team to win an adult championship final and return to senior championship football for the first time in 10 years. The scenes at the final whistle and on the teams return to Fenagh Village with the cup were so joyous showing what this victory means to the people of the Parish and Fenagh people everywhere. While celebrations continued well into the night and beyond the team’s focus will turn later in the week to the next step on their journey with a first foray into the Connacht Intermediate Championship where they will play the yet to be decided Sligo champions on Nov 3rd. A huge thanks to the entire squad led by the management team of Niall Flynn, Declan Maguire, Killian McLoughlin and Frank Smith for their efforts since the beginning of the year. Thank you also to our supporters, who gave their all to help drive the players to this success.
