Cloone GAA Club Notes 13/12/2018
Sympathy – We extend our sincere sympathy to the Heeran Family Adoon Cloone on the death of Irene Heeran recently. The Heeran family have been steeped in GAA tradition, and have contributed handsomely to GAA activities in the parish over a long number of years.
It is with great regret that we extend our sincere sympathy to the family of the late Jim Foy Riverstown Cloone, who died recently. Jim had been an active member of Cloone GAA in his young days and filled many important role, as a player, referee, umpire, linesman and indeed any other duty that was required. Jim also used his acting skills to great effect, to raise much needed funds for Cloone GAA when he participated in many local Drama productions organised by the club. Jim was also renowned for his dancing skills which he so eloquently displayed in Doherty’s Hall, much to the envy of the many young ambitious two left-footers in the hall. Jim would have taken his dancing skills to Maguires Hall in Correneary, to faraway places like the Wonderland in Bawnboy and indeed many more. Jim was a gentleman with a great love of music, and was much loved by all who knew him. To his wife Mary and his extended family we pass on our sincere sympathy.
Lotto Results – There was no winner of the Lotto Jackpot at the weekend and the following were winners in the draw. €50 Peter O’Donnell, Drumlegga, Cloone, €30 Mary T. Kelly, Cornagher, Cloone €30 Enda McCrossan, Stockport, UK. The jackpot is over € 7,000 00 and we appreciate your continued support.
Congratulations – We extend our congratulations across our Parish, County and Provincial borders to Longford Co Champions Mullinlachta on their outstanding success in winning the Leinster Senior Club football Championship in Tullamore on Sunday last. This victory will give heart and encouragement to all the smaller Gaa clubs throughout the Country. Well done to all involved.
Leitrim Wall – As part of Phase one of the Leitrim GAA Fundraising venture’ The Leitrim Wall’ a number of people in a number of clubs were invited to participate in this fundraising venture, As the Cloone club was part of phase one, people in the parish have received brochures and correspondence in relation to the scheme. The Committee of the scheme are now asking people who have received the brochures to let any of the Cloone GAA committee, or Enda Tiernan, or Gerry McGovern know if they wish to participate, or the can just return the brochure as directed in the correspondence..
It’s nice to see the recently launched new Leitrim Jersey sponsored by J. P.CLARKES. New York has returned to the old style hoop across the middle. It’s a beautiful jersey and hopefully it will bring us into a new era when Leitrim will have a run of success.
