Ballinamore Sean O Heslin’s GAA Club Notes 08/01/2019

Leitrim GAA – Hard luck to Dean McGovern and the Leitrim team who put in a fantastic performance on Sunday against Mayo, the lads competed fantastically well and only a penalty shootout could deny them, we would like to wish the new manager and all the players the best of luck for 2019

‘Ireland Lights Up – The GAA, in partnership with RTÉ’s Operation Transformation, and supported by Healthy Ireland and Get Ireland Walking, hope to bring together communities across the 32 counties to enjoy healthy walks in the safe environs of their own GAA club. Do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, your local GAA club has the answer!

This is an initiative that helps to promote physical and mental health and is something that can be enjoyed by the whole family and will be launched this Sunday after mass in the pairc an ideal opportunity for a walk with friends and family where you can enjoy a chat and a bit of exercise at the same time, refreshments will be served in the club rooms afterwards and further details of the events over the coming weeks will be discussed, please note there is no charge for this event. .

All are welcome to come to this event, please spread the word.

AGM – Thanks to everyone that attended our annual AGM on the 29th of December which was held in the club rooms. We had 26 in attendance which was slightly down on the numbers from the previous year.

The majority of the current Executive Committee were re-elected to their existing roles with the exception of Scor Officer Brid Sullivan who stepped down to a role as Oilfigeach Cultur agus teanga, the club extended their thanks to Brid for the exceptional work she has done over the years in supporting the club. The club also welcomed a new member to the executive with Phillip Farrelly joining the Coiste to replace Jeanette Hart who stepped down from her role, we would like to thank Jeanette for all her hard work for the club especially for the tireless work she did behind the scenes for our club lotto and wish her well,

On the night Secretary, Patsy Connaughton, produced a detailed report on the Club’s activities and achievements in 2018. This was followed by a report by our Cisteoir John D’Arcy on the club’s current financial position. Micky Quinn then gave his Chairman’s address where he outlined the successes and challenges that we’d faced as a club throughout 2018 paying special mention to the hard work of all the

management, selectors and players of all the teams and wishing our outgoing senior management team of Paul Prior, Sean McCartin, Paddy Prior and Jason Kellett all the best for the future while also introducing and welcoming our new senior management team of Dominic Corrigan, Adrian Dockory and Adrian Smith.

We’d like to thank all outgoing members for their hard work and dedication to Sean O’Heslins and wish the 2019 Executive Committee all the best for the coming year.

Clubrooms historical display – It is planned to put up a permanent display of photographs and memorabilia relating to the club in the clubrooms. Referee Positions – The County Board would like to recruit new referees in 2019. If this is something that is of interest to you this is a great opportunity to get involved with full training provided. Anyone interested in trying it out please contact Chairman Michael Quinn.
