Coiste Chontae Liatroma CLG is delighted to announce that it is renewing its partnership with Masonite Ireland in the substantial form of sponsorship of the 2020 Leitrim Adult Leagues which are due to commence this weekend.

Masonite Ireland and Leitrim GAA had a very fruitful relationship that lasted all of 11 years and concluded in 2009. Over that period, Masonite Ireland was the main Sponsor of all Leitrim Adult Teams and also the Leitrim Senior Football Championship.

This was a very successful time for Leitrim GAA, as it coincided with what was the most competitive era ever in the history of Leitrim GAA at club level with as many as 8 different clubs sharing the SFC titles during that period. At County level, we won a Connacht MFC title, contested a Connacht Under 21 Final in 1998 and also contested the Connacht SFC Final in 2000. Additionally, we had been extremely competitive with all challengers in the Connacht SFC during Masonite’s term as County Main Sponsor.

We are looking forward to having Masonite Ireland on board again as we move into the new decade. Our League Structures have been changed heading into this season and with clubs excitedly preparing for and looking forward to the new era in League Football, we thank Masonite for their investment in our future.

We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Paul Maye of Dunnes Bar and Swan Bar for the excellence of his support in sponsoring the Leagues over the past four seasons.

The Connacht Gold Senior Football Championship and Smith Monumentals Intermediate Football Championship move smoothly into the knockout stages with eight matches down for decision next weekend. There is a measure of intrigue attached to all fixtures and it should prove to be an action-packed ‘Super Sunday’ commencing with the IFC derby clash of Annaduff and Bornacoola (Cloone 12 noon) and IFC Ballinaglera v Carrigallen (Drumshanbo 12 noon) and concluding with the ‘Clash of Champions’ Aughawillan and Mohill. who between them have captured the last five Senior Championship titles, in Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada at 6pm.

St Mary’s Kiltoghert 0-14 Mac Diarmada Gaels 1-11

The eagerly awaited Newtowngore Engineering Minor Championship Final between St Mary’s Kiltoghert and Mac Diarmada Gaels ended level this evening at Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada. While extra time had been provided for in the 6.30pm fixture, it was deemed unsafe by the referee to continue as darkness descended very quickly at the venue. The replay is set for next Friday evening, September 13th, at the same venue with 6pm throw-in and extra time to be played in the event of a further draw.

As regards the match itself, St Mary’s Kiltoghert held an 0-8 to 0-3 halftime lead but this had been wiped out by the 12th minute of the second period as the Gaels had the better of those earlier exchanges and aided by a goal the scoreline now stood at 0-9 to 1-6. From there to the finish it was nip and tuck all the way as the contest between the county’s two best Minor teams ended level and they must do it all over again.

CCC Liatroma has publicised the schedule of group matches for the Connacht Gold SFC, Smith Monumentals IFC and Vistamed JFC A and B. Fenagh Cup

The stage is set for our County Senior and Intermediate Finals on Sunday next in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada. The Connacht Gold SFC Final brings together the two best championship teams of the past five seasons. Between them, Aughawillan (2014 and 2016) and Mohill (2015 and 2017) have shared the last four titles and Sunday’s battle will crown the better championship team in their best of five years mini-series. It should be some contest and one that is eagerly awaited!

The Smith Monumentals IFC decider brings together Annaduff and Fenagh St Caillin’s who have proved to be the best teams in this year’s competition. Annaduff, energised in 2018 following their relegation from senior ranks in 2017 will be determined for an immediate return to senior ranks and Fenagh St Caillin’s, who have had brilliant underage success over the most recent part of the last decade, will be hoping to continue their upward curve. It will be a fascinating duel.
