Club Notes

 

Celebrity Bainisteoir

The cameras will be back in Dromahair next Sunday 1st Feb. all day to film training in the park. Both Katherine Lynch and Mickey Quinn will be there all day. The cameras will return to film training on Sunday 15th Feb, Sunday 22nd Feb, and Sunday 1st March. The cameras will be filming around the village and in local schools on Friday 6th of March before the team depart for Dublin at 2pm. The Cuala club have organised a lot of activities on the day of the match. Our ladies team will play Cuala ladies at 11.30 before the Celebrity Bainisteoir match and our junior team will play their juniors after the match. During the day there will also be bouncy castles, face painting and loads of other entertainment. After the match Cuala have organised an Apres match hosted by Des Cahill. We will have details of hotels in the area next week for those who intwend staying Saturday night.

 

Social night

We are holding a social night in conjunction with Celebrity Bainisteoir on Saturday 7th of February in the Clubhouse Bar. Music will be provided by Vivian O Loughlin and the club will be making presentations to the Club President and Vice Presidents on the night. Club player of the year for 2008 will be announced on the night. Our new club crest will also be officially launched. The cameras might be there on the night so hopefully all our supporters will come along.

 

Team Managers

The Executive committee is currently finalising the appointment of team mangers for 2009. The following have already been confirmed U10 JohnÓglynnmartin, John Kerins, John McMorrow. U12 Eoghan Sweeney, Gavin Sweeney, Noel Burke. U14 Gerry Fowley, Adrian McPadden, Oliver Conlon, U16 Hughie Clinton, Kenny Casey. Minor Jim Meehan, Kevin Conlan, Fergus Torsney Niall Curneen. If anyone is interested inÓgetting involved please contact a committee member.

 

Team Gear

We have ordered some new club tops and jackets with our new crest; these will be available to buy in the coming weeks in local shops along with flags and banners for Celerity Bainisteoir.

 

Leitrim Supporters Club

Tickets are now on sale locally for the Leitrim Supporters Club 2009. Tickets can be brought from Jim Meehan, Kevin Torsney, Hughie Clinton, Sean O Hara, Eoghan Sweeney. Please support the county team especially with Paddy McGowan on the panel.

 

Leitrim v Sligo

Well done to the Leitrim team and management on their great victory over Sligo. It was great to see Paddy McGowan coming on in the second half and he put in a very good performance.

 

IFA

The local IFA are currently selling tickets to their annual 25 Card Drive on Saturday 21st Feb. The proceeds this year go to Dromahair Community Preschool, so please support.

Club Notes

 

Scór

Hard luck to our Scór na nÓg Instrumental Group who took park in the Connacht Final on Saturday last in Claremorris. The group was Aine Vesey, Sharon Kelly, Kevin Vesey and Shane McInerney by all accounts they performed very well on the day. Thanks to Stephen McInernery for all his effort preparing the group.

 

Celebrity Bainisteoir

Arrangements are now at an advanced stage. All information will be up on our website http://dromahairstpatricks.leitrim.gaa.ie/ as we get it. We are holding a social night in conjunction with Celebrity Bainisteoir on Saturday 7th of February, more details next week.

Leitrim Supporters Club

Calling all our supporters in Dublin. The Leitrim Supporters Club launch is on in the Herbert Park Hotel on Thursday night 22nd January at 8.00pm. Paddy McGowan is a member of the county panel at present so show your support by coming along. Mickey Moran and John Morrison will be there on the night to discuss their plans for the year ahead. There are great optimisms for Leitrim football for the year ahead so go along to the Herbert Park for a special night.

Cloone GAA Club have just launched a new club website with a number of new features been made available including bringing their lotto draw online. The new initiative will allow people from all over the world to support the club while also giving them the chance to win the lotto jackpot which currently stands at almost €4,000. The club would like to encourage Leitrim ex-pats all over the world to use the new facility to assist the clubs fundraising and appeal particularly to the many people across the globe with Cloone connections. All major credit cards are accepted as well as Irish and English debit cards and payments are processed using secure, bank certified and approved payment-processing service Realex, one of Europes largest online payment processors. Remember when you play your local lotto, whether or not you win the Jackpot, there is always a winner – your local club and community.

The new website also has a number of new features to allow people keep in touch with the activities of the club including newsletter subscriptions, league tables, a new photo gallery, all fixtures and results for the club as well as all the latest national and local GAA news. The site also incorporates the ladies club and has a section fully dedicated to their activities. The club is also inviting anyone with suitable material of either historical or current interest to forward it onto them for inclusion on the site. Cloone GAA club website has been in operation since 2000 and has always been very popular with Cloone natives across the globe. Plans to develop the site over the coming months with a number of new proposals currently being viewed. Meeting

A club meeting will be held on Friday next 16th of January at 9.30pm in The Clubhouse Bar. All members are asked to attend as preparations for Celebrity Bainisteoir are now in full swing.

Congratulations to our instrumental group of Aine Vesey, Sharon Kelly, Kevin Vesey and Shane McInerney who won Leitrim Scór na nÓg last Sunday. This is a brilliant achievement and every wishes them the best of luck in the Connacht Final on Saturday 17th of January in Claremorris. Special thanks to Stephen McInerney for all his hard work preparing the group.

 

Tarmac

Everyone will have noticed over the Christmas the new tarmac around the pavilion in the Park. The club would like to thank Paul McGoldrick of Cold Chon for sponsoring this work, it is greatly appreciated.

Celebrity Bainisteoir

The lads have been training away over the Christmas preparing for our first match. The date has been confirmed to play Cuala, it is fixed for Saturday 7th of March.

 

AGM

The clubs AGM was held last Friday evening. The meeting was very well attended. Both Sean OHara and Fergus Meehan stepped down from the positions of Chairman and Treasurer respectively after doing a huge amount of work for the club over the past number of years. The following officers were elected Chairman Kevin Torsney, Asst Chairman Hughie Clinton, Secretary Adrian McMorrow, Asst Secretary JohnÓglynnmartin, Treasurer Michael Leyden, Coaching Officer Gerry Fowley, Schools Officer Gavin Sweeney, Registrar Fergus Torsney, IT Officer Kevin Conlan, Minor Board Delegates Niall Curneen, Hughie Clinton, Gerry Fowley, Senior Board Dessie Fowley, Joey Bird, Kevin Torsney, Adrian McMorrow, Sean OHara, Cultural Officers Stephen McInerney, Sean Conlan, Liaison Officer Sean OHara, PRO Eoghan Sweeney. The club also appointed Josie Torsney as its Hon. President and John Madden, Terry Leyden and Teddy Loughlin as Hon. Vice Presidents.

 

Membership

At the AGM membership for 2009 was set at €40 for adults, €20 for students and €5 for under 16s. All players on our intermediate and junior teams must have their membership paid before the end of January.

Coaching News

Workshop for goalkeepers will take place on 28/12, venue and time to be decided. Goalkeeper from aged 14 upwards are asked to attend with their coach. Those interested should contact club coaching officer Hughie Clinton or any club officer.

Members Draw

 

The winners of the November Draw are Gerry Kelly €300, Jim Harte €200, Tomas Sweeney €150 and Tommy Rooney €100. Anyone interested in joining the draw should contact any club officer.

 

AGM

 

The club AGM is on Sunday 28th of December. All members will be receiving notification over the next few days.

St. Patricks GAA Club Dromahair Notes

 

Celebrity Bainisteoir

We all had a great day last Friday with the arrival of Celebrity Bainisteoir in Dromahair. The cameras arrived at 10am to film a training session and interview some of the club players, mentors and officers. After lunch the celebrity was revealed and we had a great crowd in the park for Katherine Lynchs arrival. Once Katherine had been introduced to the team our manger David Downes handed her the Bainisteoirs jacket and she took the team for her first training session. Filming finished around 4pm. Everyone involved with the club can be very proud of all the work put in to prepare for Friday, we would also like to thank all our supporters who turned up in the afternoon especially the teachers and pupils from the local schools. Thanks also to all the local businesses that helped us out over the last few weeks.

 

First Game

The Draw has been made for the first round of Celebrity Bainisteoir and we are playing Cuala Casements from Dalkey. Their Celebrity Manager is George Hook and the match will take place at the end of February.

 

New Crest

Along with revealing the celebrity on Friday last the club also revealed its new crest. The crest will be used from now on all club correspondence and jerseys. The club would like to thank Mel McMorrow for organising and sponsoring the crest design.

 

Race night

We held on annual Race night last Saturday night in the Blue Devon. This was a great nights entertainment for all attended. Thanks to all our sponsors Damien Torsney, Castle Dargan Hotel, Kellys Bar Ballygawley, Fowleys Garage, Eamon Devaney Meats, Kerrigans Quarry, Villiers Café, Dromahair Ladies GFC, Gilmors Spar, Seamus Harkin, Lagan Tarmac, The Corner Deli, George McGoldrick, Harmac Mechanical, Flanagan Brothers Electrical, The Blue Devon, Joe Fowley Car Sales, The clubhouse Bar, McPartland Oil and McGoldricks Londis. Thanks also to everyone who helped out on the night and horses. Special thanks to Martina Devanney for the use of her premises and to our auctioneer Gerry Kelly.

 

Scór

Well done to everyone who represented the club in Scór na nÓg last Saturday. Our dancers were Emer Kelly, Ciara Kelly, Edel Kelly, Caira ONeill, Elanie Hamilton, Joanne Feeney, Arlene McWilliams and Emer McHugh and our musicians were Kevin Vesey, Shane McInerney, Aine Vesey and Sharon Kelly. The music for our dancers wwas provided by Stephen McInerney, Noel McMoahon and Anna Conlan. Thanks to all the parents for their help and support and to Mary Gordon, Breege Fowley and Chrissie Meehan for all their hard work preparing the dancers.

Message from Dromahair Club – 

By now most people know that our club has been chosen to take part in the new series of Celebrity Bainisteoir. There is huge excitement in Dromahair as we wait to find out which celebrity is going to be taking charge of our team.

RTE will be in Dromahair all day next Friday and they will be revealing the Celebrity to the team at 2pm in the Park.

Everyone is welcome to come along at 2pm for the arrival of the celebrity.
