St Patricks GAA Club Dromahair-Club Notes

Celebrity Bainisteoir

Our great run in the Celebrity Bainisteoir is over. While everyone was very disappointed with our defeat last Friday night it was still a night that will be remembered for a long time to come for all the right reasons except the result. To be at the pitch before the game and see such huge support and colour for our team and to see familiar faces from all over Leitrim really made you feel how special an occasion the final was. The club, officials and team would like to thank everyone for all the support we have received; it was great to see all the flags and banners around the locality and all the signs and messages of support all over the county. I know that the players were really lifted by the send off they received in Dromahair and the sight of all the supporters in Dublin. Thanks to our main sponsors for the competition Connacht Gold, SL Controls and Kerrigan Quarries. Also to all the local businesses who helped us out so much over the last few months. Thanks to Martina, Noel and staff of The Blue Devon for providing a meal for the team on their arrival back from Dublin, to Niall Gallogly Outdoor Catering Ballinamore for looking after food for the players after training, to Doctor Ballintine and John Russell for providing medical cover for the team. There are loads more to thank and we will have a more comprehensive list next week.

Everyone involved with the club should be very proud of the way we represented the parishes of Dromahair. At the start the players committed to making a huge effort for the competition and they didnt let us down and the lads that spoke on camera portrayed us all very well. The club executive committee put in huge work over the last 6 months to have everything right for the cameras especially our Chairman Kevin Torsney and Secretary Adrian McMorrow who were on call all the time by the production company. Our management team of BrendanÓgreen, Mickey Quinn and Fergus Torsney put huge work into preparing the team and we are delighted that Mickey is going to stay on for the rest of the season; he has helped us all immensely and is a brilliant ambassador for Leitrim football. Finally thanks to our Celebrity Bainisteoir Katherine, since the first day she arrived in Dromahair she has been a friend to everyone in the club and has always put a smile on our faces both young and old. Hopefully Katherine will visit us again during the summer and we can relive the brilliant memories that we will all have for the rest of our lives.
