Club HurlingDeveloping our youth ? what is best practise
Leitrim GAA will launch their Coach Education programme for 2007 on this Wednesday evening 17/01/2007, when Professor Niall Moyna from DCU will speak on ?Developing our youth ? what is best practise?. Dr. Niall Moyna is recognised as the foremost speaker on player development from childhood to adulthood and this is an opportunity for any individual with an interest in the development of young players to come along and hear from the best. Dr. Moyna will be joined on the night by Mr. Peter Horgan from Croke Park. The seminar will commence at 8 pm in the Bush Hotel, Ck-on-Shannon and we would ask all GAA clubs to ensure they are well represented on the night.
Foundation Level Coaching Course
Our first Foundation Level course will take place in Aughnasheelin on Friday evening 19/01/2007 commencing at 7.30 pm, with the practical part of the course taking place on the following morning, Saturday 20/01, commencing at 10.30 am. Our 2007 Level one course will commence on Wednesday night 24/01 at 8.00 pm in the Bush Hotel. Registration will take place from 7.30 pm. The format for this year?s level one will be based on attendance at practical workshops as well as some theory sessions. It is hoped it will make it more attractive to coaches to complete this level. We would also like to point out that the coach education system will change later on this year, and the higher qualification level you are at will decide your entry level on the new system. We would ask clubs to please confirm the number they will have attending with Thomas Keenan.

Frustration as FBD Game postponed
Club FootballThere was understandable frustration all round in Mervue this afternoon as the FBD League game betweenÓgMIT and Leitrim was officially postponed by referee Oliver Kelly, at 1:40pm.
After a thorough inspection the pitch in Mervue was rightfully deemed unplayable due to water logging. Attempts to secure another venue failed and everyone had to turn around and head for home.
The game was originally scheduled for Pearse Stadium but that change was announced earlier in the week as Pearse Stadium is being rested at the moment. Castlegar was secured for the fixture but earlier this morning there was communication from Galway to say that the Castlegar field was unplayable and the game was hastily moved to Mervue
Every effort was made to inform all interested parties, from supporters to officials, of the last minute change of venue but to no avail. By 2pm when the throw-in should have happened the venue was all but deserted and the seagulls were left to their own devices to play in the puddles.
In this day and age better is expected.

Launch of Supporters Club
GeneralWednesday 17th Jan is the launch night of the Leitrim Supporters Club in Dublin. This event attracts a large following and not doubt it will do so this year. The venue is the Herbert Park Hotel and the event starts at 8:30pm.
The Supporters Club was very successful in 2006 and reached a target of ?100,000. This year the target remains just as high as we are in much need of support during a time of considerable costs due to the ongoing development projects.
Please support us by attending on the night and becoming a member for 2007.

Moving House
GeneralDue to the demands on our website we have decided to move home, lock stock and photo gallery, as we have out-grown our previous accommodation. This move to a new hosting area will allow us to expand and add more functionality to the site over the next year.
We are currently using the backup domain name of www.LeitrimGAA.org as we await the remapping of the www.LeitrimGAA.ie address which should be complete by the weekend.
Almost all of the site is rehoused and retested in its new home. There is no recent change in the design or layout but if you notice anything unusual please advise me asap (using the email address at the bottom of the page )and we will rectify the issue.
