National Club Draw – Great news from the National Club Draw last week when it was announced that the Club had won €1000. The Club was included in the draw as we sold over the quota of club tickets. Thanks to everyone who supported this draw and a special word of thanks to Patrick Mc Nulty who puts in such a great effort each year to sell these tickets.

Junior League v Fenagh – On Saturday in St Osnat’s the Junior team had their second win in League Division 3 against Fenagh. The final score was Melvin Gaels 3-13, Fenagh 2-9. Well done all.

Another win for the Under 17s – Well done to the Under 17 team and mentors on another great win over St Brigid’s on Saturday last. Final score Melvin Gaels 3-11, St Brigid’s 2-3.

Great Day for Leitrim – There was great excitement in Pairc Sean on Sunday when Leitrim defeated London and gained promotion to Division 3. A fantastic achievement for the county and all involved. Despite the bad weather, another great crowd turned out for last week’s walk. The walk continues every Thursday night until February 21, 2019. The track will be lit up from 7pm to 8pm and everyone of all ages is asked to come along and join in this free weekly event.

With that in mind, the Club will be holding club registration/membership sessions. Our first registration session will take place on Friday next, February 8, from 8pm to 9pm and will be open to Adult players in the Community Centre. On Saturday next, February 9, from 10am to 12pm registration of underage players will take place also at the Community Centre. We can accommodate anyone young or old at either session but if at all possible please attend on the date that applies to you or your family.
Tea/Coffee & refreshments will be available at both sessions. A Great Night for the Club – The “Harte of the Matter” in the Great Northern Hotel, Bundoran turned out to be a great night’s entertainment for all who came along. The guest speakers on the night, Caroline Currid, Mickey Harte, Aiden O’Mahoney, Brian McEniff and Rory Gallagher were all very inspiring. Everyone who came along was very impressed by the speakers and the event as a whole. Colin Regan did a fantastic job interviewing the guests and organising in general. The audience were also entertained by “Theresa May” and “Donald Trump” who came along at short notice, and gave their views on matters in the GAA. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the night a success and to all who donated prizes for the raffle.  Thanks to all the guests for coming along and all in the community for the support.  The victorious Under 20 Championship winners were presented with their medals by Aiden O’ Mahoney on the night. Congratulations and well done to them all and their mentors. This is an event that will need to be repeated as many people were disappointed that they couldn’t make it on the night. Well done to all the organisers.

New Development Project – Many people from the locality and further afield have supported the Community   Development Project at the Community Centre, Melvin Park and Dressing rooms, which is well underway. Any Kinlough people travelling home at Christmas will see that Melvin Park has changed a lot. The Committee is appealing to anyone who has yet to support the development to try to help, by joining the draw or sponsoring in any way.  A lot of money is needed to complete the project which will be very impressive when completed and will be a huge benefit to all the Community.

The fundraising involves “Make Your Mark on Melvin Park” for €100 which will represent a square of Melvin Park, entry into a draw, prizes 5x €1000, and your name on a commemorative plaque. The Club is very much involved in this fundraising and any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Start Walking – The Club is asking everyone, young and not so young, to come along and get fit and healthy and also take part in a great social activity. The lights will be on at the Training Pitch every evening from 4pm to 9pm as a Health Initiative so that the Community can make use of them on the dark evenings.
