Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA Club Notes 27/09/2018

Senior Championship – Our senior team qualified for the Connacht Gold Leitrim Senior Football Championship semi-final with a superb team performance defeating Ballinamore SOH in the quarter final replay last Saturday evening in Páirc Seán on a scoreline of 1-21 to 1-6.  Attention now turns to the semi-final versus the reigning county champions Mohill which takes place this Saturday (Sep 29th) at 5pm in Páirc Seán. This is a massive game for the lads and your support is always appreciated by the players.  Good luck to the team and management.

Junior A Championship – Well done to our Junior team who qualified for the Pyramid Bookmakers Junior A Championship Final with a commanding semi-final win over Carrigallen on Sunday last in Drumshanbo.  The game was evenly balanced at half time with Manor leading by just 3 points (1-8 to 1-5).  In the second half they gave an exhibition of score-taking to run out 1-23 to 1-6 winners.  They play neighbours Glenfarne Kiltyclogher in the final with fixture TBC.  We wish them all the best in their preparations.

Manorhamilton Enterprise Town – Bank of Ireland are hosting the Manorhamilton Enterprise Town event in the Bee Park Community Centre on Tuesday evening 25th September between 6 and 9pm with MC for the evening none other than Marty Morrisey and another special guest will also be in attendance!  Glencar Manorhamilton GAA Club will join the many clubs, societies, community groups, businesses and enterprises from the area in showcasing themselves and our locality.  Our U11 team who represented the club with distinction at the Play and Stay Games in Croke Park at the weekend will be honoured at the event.  This is a free event for all so do be sure to come along.

Minor Ladies – Hard luck to our Minor Ladies team who were defeated by St  Felim’s in the County Final on a scoreline of 4-13 to 3-6 on Saturday last in Leitrim Village. The Manor girls held the narrowest of leads at the break on a scoreline of 1-3 to 0-5 however St Felim’s dominated the scoring in the second half to deservedly claim the title.

U11s –  Memories forever were made in Croke Park on Sunday for our U11 boys and girls who were great ambassadors for our club both on and off the field of play. We salute the children and their parents who embraced this special occasion.  James Glancy organised the whole trip and we are indebted to James for all the work he has and continues to put into this team.  The boys and girls continue their weekly involvement in training and blitzes as they strive to develop as players and as a team.
