Scór – Comhghairdeas to our Rince Seit who competed in Scór on Saturday night last and won a County Title – they now represent their Club agus Contae at Connacht Final on Monday next March 19th at St Johns Hall, Lecarrow Co. Roscommon at 4pm   – the Dancers are Conor McTeigue, Fintan Fitzpatrick, Cormac Sammon,  Ciaran Murray, Sheena McTeigue, Chloe Harvey, Grace McNulty, Tara Fitzpatrick. Also Comhghairdeas to our Bailéad Grupa who also won a County Title and heading to Connacht Final on Monday – they were represented by Brendan Sammon, Cait Cullen, Shane McNulty, Cormac Sammon, Sheila Murray.  Best of luck to all in the Connacht Final.

Barna Recycling Under 13 League- Under 13s played their first game of the season in Achadh na Sileann with Annaduff on Sunday  – it was a very entertaining game with some lovely football played by both sides which have some very young players.

Ladies Division 2 League – Oughteragh Gaels 10-17  –  Drumkeerin 1-1 – Well done to ladies team who kicked off the year in fine style with a big win over Drumkeerin – started off game with some excellent movement and scores – the opposition came out fighting the second half but  girls held their own to secure their first win in the League this year.   Next game is away to Manorhamilton on April 8th – please support.

U 14 girls – We played a strong  Carrick team at the weekend and were beaten – they play Gortletteragh this Thursday at 6 in Cloone under lights.

A good night was enjoyed at our Celebration Dinner Dance on Saturday night in the Landmark – Comhghairdeas to our Intermediate Team who received their Championship Medals.  They were presented with their medals by our oldest President Pakie Mulvey.  Comhghairdeas to James McCaffrey who was presented with a special award for his involvement in the Club and as a Referee over many years and he’s not hanging up the whistle yet, also Martin McHugh who was presented with a  special award for his involvement and for his commitment to football over the last few years while not being in the best of health but TG Martin told us that he has received a clean bill of health – though he says he has his boots sold I don’t think we could believe that!

Comhghairdeas to our Young Player of the Year Ben McGirl and Senior Player Paddy McManus  well deserved lads –  Ben was presented with the Sean Sammon Cup by Michael Sammon and  Paddy received the Seanie Tubman cup from Annie Tubman – MC for the night was John Lynch who carried out the interviews and put everyone at ease with his great banter.  A lovely part of the night was the good wishes from our Aughnahseelin lads scattered all over the world and one not from Aughnasheeling maybe he might decide to come and join us.  Well done to the 3 Brendans, Lorraine, Mary and Jerome who did a great job organising the night.

Comhbhrón  –  It has been a sad week for Achadh ná Síleann especially for our Club with the death of one of our Presidents Sean Gallagher formerly Drumrackin – Sean passed away at Beaumont Hospital on Monday last surrounded by his beloved family and dear friend Fr. Leo.  Sean or Seanie as he was known was the towering Centre Half Back on our great Teams in the late 60’s and 70’s – he was part of the  Team known as ‘The Emigrants’  as they were all Dublin based and trained in the Phoenix Park – they  won Junior and Senior Leagues, Junior Championship but the big prize eluded this great Team – a Senior Championship, they came so close so many times but it wasn’t to be.  Unfortunately Seanie got a lot of trouble with his knees but gave it his all,  he was a proud Aughnasheelin man and wore the Jersey with pride.  Sean has now gone to his eternal home and Im sure there are some great stories being relayed with  Sean putting a good twist to them with his favourite saying – ‘Lower them late Lads ‘ , we offer our deepest sympathies to his dear wife Alice, children Alice, Alan, Séan and Leo, his beloved grand children Sean,Conor and Emma, daughter in law Orlaith, to his brothers and sisters – Anna and Christy, Tom and Breda, Josie and Willie, Mary and Michael, Eileen and Paddy, Sr. Rose and Peg, his many nieces and nephews, dear friends and fellow Club people – Ar dheis Dé  go  raibh a ainm uasal.
