cLeitrim Ladies League Campaign 2012

The Leitrim Ladies league campaign starts on Sunday the 5th of February in Ballinamore at 2pm. This years team has changed since last years All Ireland semi-final game against Cavan due to emigration and other factors. Younger ladies from around the county have beenÓgiven the opportunity to step up to the mark and represent their county at a more senior level and they have displayed some excellent football over the past number of weeks at training and in the recent challenge matches played against Longford, Cavan and Meath. Mixed them in with the more senior members of the panel who continue to serve the county each year and Niall Kilcrann and his team of selectors will have the difficult task of trying to select their starting team on the 5th February in the opening league game against Down. Leitrim have Down,Sligo, Armagh, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow to play in their league campaign. The following players are on the panel at the moment and I would urge the people of the county to come out and support the team who wear their Green and Gold jerseys with pride. First game on Sunday the 5th of February Páirc Seán O Heslins, Ballinamore.

Leitrim Ladies AGM Workshop

An AGM workshop is being facilitated by William Harmon, Croke Park Regional Games Development Officer on Monday 12th December at 8pm in Pairc Sean. The main objective of the workshop will be to examine the personnel required to continue the development of Leitrim Ladies Gaelic Football. The workshop will outline the duties and qualities required for each of the officerships/committees involved within a County Board.

Leitrim Laides would like to invite any interested parties to come along on the night. It is important that we can get a committed and motivated group together to ensure that all current structures in the county are reviewed and the development of Ladies Football within the county is continued. There maybe people who would be excellent to be involved in this group but are unsure of the roles involved and this is an ideal opportunity for all interested parties to attend. It is important that everyone in Leitrim that has an interest in Ladies Football is involved in this process, which is just another step in the future development of the sport in Leitrim.

Intermediate Championship

The Leitrim Intermediate ladies finished their championship group stages campaign on Sunday last in Ruislip, London where they overcame London, 2-15 to 1-02, so it is four out of four. Leitrim now top their group and will see an All Ireland Semi Final. The exact date has to be confirmed along with those they are meeting on the other side of the draw.

We would like to thank to thank the Ladies Committee in London for providing fantastic hospitality after the game.

On a local note it was great to see Una Creegan from Cloone who is based in London line out for the exiles. Also thanks to all the Leitrim people who made the journey over to support the girls.

The trip would not have been made possible without the background work of certain people, namely Patricia Bohan and Michelle Duffy so a big thank you to those ladies.

Under 16 All Ireland Semi Final

Best wishes go to our U16 Ladies this weekend as they take on Longford in the B Championship Final this Saturday at 3pm in Mullahoran, Co. Cavan. All Support would be greatly appreciated.

Dawn Run

What a fantastic scene it was at 6am on Saturday morning last when 200 people converged upon St Marys GAA grounds for the Dawn Run in aid of the Leitrim Ladies.

We would like to thank all the clubs for providing stewards and help, the members of the county board who helped out on the day.

Thank you to those who ran/walked or done a bit of both. The support was overwhelming so thank you to everyone.

Last but not least a big Thank You must go to Bernie Glancy for her endless work on organising this run. It is much appreciated by everyone on the county board and most of all the Leitrim Ladies Senior team.

Bag Pack

On the August Bank Holiday Weekend there was a bag back in SuperValu in Ballinamore where all the Leitrim Ladies County teams were out. We would like to thank all at SuperValu for their help and to those who supported the ladies. Thank You.
