We have just received news this morning, confirmed by Croke Park, that Leitrim Ladies have received a walkover as Louth have conceded tomorrow evenings game.

This means that the Leitrim Ladies are now through to the All Ireland Intermediate Semi Finals.

Championship win for Leitrim Ladies:
Congratulations to the girls on a great win over Wexford in Round 4 of the All Ireland Intermediate Championship on Sunday. Played in near perfect conditions on a fine surface in Wexford Park, Leitrim were slow to start but gradually came more into the game and a super goal from sub Clare Plunkett before half time turned the tie Leitrim’s way. The team had to battle hard throughout and showed many fine qualities throughout. This great win leaves Leitrim as favourites to top Group 2 and guarantee a semi final spot if they defeat of draw with Louth on Friday evening. A special word of thanks to the Wexford Ladies County Board for their hospitality to Leitrim after the game. Thanks also in particular to the large number of Leitrim supporters who made the long journey to Wexford for the game and their vocal support throughout that lifted the girls when the going got tough.

Leitrim v Louth:
Leitrim’s final game of Group 2 in the Championship will take place on Friday evening at 7.45pm in Pairc Sean in Carrick when Louth are the visitors. The sides last met in competitive action in the quarter final of the Division 2 National League in 2004 when it took extra time to separate the sides also played in Carrick where Louth ran out two point winners. The sides have never met in Championship action but Louth took All Ireland Junior Honours in 1998. Since then they have played at senior level but following poor results in recent years were regraded to Intermediate status this year. They reached the Leinster Intermediate semi final this year but were defeated by Westmeath by 0-10 to 0-06. We would ask as many supporters as possible to come along and support the ladies in their first game in the newly developed Pairc Sean on Friday evening.

Clarkes Hotel Minor Championship:
Glencar Manor opened their campaign at the weekend with a 2-09 to 0-5 win over Sean O’Heslins. The final round of the Championships will be played on Tuesday next. AlenÓgaels host Glencar Manorhamilton and St Josephs host Sean O Heslins while Dromahair travel to Kiltubrid and St Marys to Aughawillan in the 9 a side Championship.

Pyramid Bookmakers Intermediate Club Championship:
On Sunday next Round 3 of the Championship will take place with Bornacoola entertaining Aughawillan in Dromod at 12.00pm as Cloone travel to Aughavas to play St Josephs at 11.30am. Later that afternoon Mohill travel to Annaduff to play at 4.00pm. The Kiltubrid Glencar ManorhamiltonÓgame will take place on Tuesday 14th August.

Reynolds Hardware Ballinamore Junior B Championship:
The first semi final betweenÓgortlettragh and Sean O Heslins has been provisionally fixed for 12th August.

Annaduff Credit Union Under 14 Championship:
The 7 a side final between Aughawillan and Cloone has been provisionally fixed for Saturday next. The 9 a side competition has now reached semi final stage with Aughnasheelin playing Annaduff tomorrow evening. A date has not yet been confirmed for the second semi final between Bornacoola and Fenagh.

Under 12 Championship:
St Josephs, Mohill, Glencar Manorhamilton and Drumkeerin have qualified for the semi finals of the championship which will take place later in the month.

Connacht Under 14 Blitz:
This one day competition with the five Connacht counties participating will take place on Saturday 8th September at a Mayo Venue

Potential Underdog:
Best of luck to Eimear McGlade as she hopes to make the final 24 of the Underdogs squad next weekend.

Another busy weekend with the Seniors, Intermediates and the opening round of the Junior A championships all on the go.

Senior Championship
The Senior section is starting to hot up as 2 teams are now sure of their place in the Quarter finals. InÓgroup 2 Annaduff had a 5 point win over St. Caillins and as they top their group they await the outcome of Group 1 which is undecided with the result of the remaining game between Bornacoola and Allen Gaels crucial to all 3 teams.

The other Quarter finalists are Group 4s Melvin Gaels who topped their table on Saturday evening with their tally of 2 wins. They also await the outcome of Group 3 which is similar to Group 1 with the final game deciding if there will be a clear top and runner-up or if playoffs are required.

Its interesting to note that the teams (Allen Gaels, Fenagh/St. Caillins, Aughawillan and Kiltubrid) that did not play in the first round and who played their first game over the weekend all lost their opening game. Their opposition appeared to benefit by having a game under their belt.

Intermediate Championship
In the Intermediate Championship the picture is very similar to the Senior competition. Group 1s Gortletteragh are through on 2 wins out of 2 and inÓgroup 3 Drumkeerin are also guaranteed a place in the quarters as they have a win and a draw. This Sunday games inÓgroup 1 – Cloone v Eslin and inÓgroup 3 – Glencar/Manor v Glenfarne/Kilty will decide the second placing and relegation playoff positions.

InÓgroup 2 and 4 both Dromahaire and Ballinalgera are out of contention as Drumreilly v Aughnasheelin and Aughavas v St. Marys who play this weekend will decide Top and Runner-up.

Junior A Championship
The Junior A round 1 opened yesterday with Carrigallen, Annaduff, Allen Gaels and Mohill all starting their campaign on the right note with wins.

Next weekend Gortletteragh, Drumkeerin, Bornacoola and Aughavas get to take the field in their first game.

Meanwhile Aughawillan, St. Marys and Sean O Heslins, all of whom have lost their openers, must win in order to stay in the competition and Melvin Gaels have an extra week to prepare for their final game.
