Leitrim grabbed the all-important brace of points they urgently needed to further complicate the closing stages of Division 2A but they were put to the pin of their collar by London.

The game was level eight times as both sides tried might and main to pull away.

With the scores tied at 0-10 each and the game going into time added on Leitrims top scorer Ciaran Duigan took a huge hand in the outcome when he tapped over two meticulous points from play and one from a free during the four minutes that were added on to put Dessie Dolans men in the best possible position for their last game against Monaghan.

But before Leitrim made their winning move, they were given a severe test by London who played their best football of the season.

Leitrim 2-8
Roscommon 0-11

Leitrim produced a magnificent comeback to rock Roscommons promotion ambitions, putting themselves in the battle for second spot.

Roscommon, having led 0-6 to 0-3 at the break, and only needing a draw to go up, led by 0-9 to 0-3 after 47 minutes, but Leitrim then ran riot, firing home goals from Gary McClusky and James Glancy. They edged 2-6 to 0-11 in front and closed out with points by Barry McWeeney and Colin Regan.

Following a recent CCC meeting the makeup of the new Shield Competition for 2007 was announced. The Competition will see 22 clubs participate in 3 different shield competitions and each competition will be played on a round robin basis. The teams in each Shield were chosen by open draw.

The Shield is part of the restructuring of the Club competitions for 2007. County players will not participate as they will be involved in intercounty competitions. The Shields are divided into 3 with all 1st Teams from Div 1,2 & 3 being divided up and playing in 2 of the Shields with remaining 2nd Teams from 2007 Division 2 & 3 making up the 3rd Shield.

The rounds are now available on the new shield Table menu on the left hand side. The details of League & Shield fixtures from WE 14/15 Aibreán 2007, forward, should be issued early next week.

Leitrim 3-15
Carlow 1-7

LEITRIM turned in a sparkling second-half performance to crush the Managerless and pointless Carlow in an entertaining game in Cloone.

Matters were evenly matched in the opening 18 minutes when the sides traded two points. Brian Kelly put over a pair of Carlow frees, while Fintan McBrien and Declan Maxwell hit the target for Leitrim.

Leitrim edged into a decisive lead by the 27th minute, with James Glancy Scóring a goal while Ciaran Duignan, Shane Foley, Donal Brennan, Fintan McBrien and Gary McCloskey added a point each, all without reply from the visitors.

However, Brian Kelly hit back with four converted frees to leave Carlow trailing by four points, with the half-time score standing at 1-7 to 0-6.

Ciaran Duignan added two Leitrim points from frees in the opening quarter of the second half, before Kelly replied with his seventh converted free for Carlow.

Carlow were right back in contention when Mark Carpenter drove home a well-takenÓgoal in the 50th minute.

However, they failed to score for the rest of the game as Leitrim went on to shoot an unanswered two goals and six points.

Carlow were reduced to 14 players before the finish when Brian Leonard was dismissed for two yellow cards.
