Cathal Clancy and Mamie Reilly Tournament – We held our annual U11 and U9 tournaments versus Cloone last Sunday. Our U7s had their first game also which was a great success. We had a great day of football from our U7s starting to learn their skills, to our U9s and U11s showing off their own skills. Thanks to Cloone for the great games for another year, and thanks to all who helped out on the day. We were all very glad to come indoors to the warmth and enjoy the refreshments provided on a day that turned out wetter than we’d hoped for.

U15 – We played Melvin Gaels at home last Saturday. In the first minute of the game we conceded a penalty and they converted. So we played catch up for most of the first half. But by the time halftime whistle blew we had taken the lead by nine points with three well-struck goals. We never surrendered the lead from there till the full-time whistle. Next up is Sean O’Heslin in Ballinamore this Saturday morning. The team on the day was: J Shields, R Cunningham, D Heslin, A Liu Doyle, C Niblock, B Naughton, O Heslin, B Davis, M Reynolds, C McNulty, N Ward, C Reynolds, R Ward. Subs used C O’Leary, J Reynolds, L McManus

U13’s Regional Final –  The U13s regional final was on last Tuesday night in Cloone, Carrick region versus Lough Allen region. We had four players representing our club, all on the starting team Jack Reynolds, Mathew Davis, Luke McManus and Riaghan Ward. After a slow start, we took control of the game and never looked in trouble throughout the rest of the game. We witnessed some fantastic football on the night from both teams. Well done boys and also to Tom Ward who was a coach.

U12 Skills Competition – Well done to  David Liu Doyle, Tommy Reen, George Glaze and Aaron Keighran competing in last Friday evenings skills competition in Kiltubrid. The boys did very well on the night but came up short, well done to Fenagh who came first.

U15 Championship – Our U15s played Kiltubrid in Gortletteragh Friday 21st. After a tough battle we came away with a win. We travelled to Drumkeeran last Sunday for our fifth game of the championship and left with two points in the bag. We play Melvin Gaels at home this Saturday 6th and then we play Sean Ó hEislen away Saturday 13th.

Senior Championship – The lads ensured their place in the Quarter Finals with a win over Drumreilly on Saturday evening. We take on St Mary’s on Sunday at 1.30 in Ballinamore in the knockout stages.

U17 – Rinn Gaels faced Melvin Gaels in Pairc Sean last Saturday morning in the Minor 13 a side Final. We played a good first half but with all our hard work we went in at halftime only a point up. We started the second half with two points to leave it 07-04, they say goals win games and Melvin Gaels struck for their first of two goals in a five-minute purple patch. We struggled to control the running of Melvin Gaels and got it hard to break their defence, in fairness to our lads they never gave up. With five minutes to go, we trailed by five points but the battling spirit of these boys kept fighting and got two points to leave a goal in it. With only 3 minutes of injury time announced which probably could have been 5 or 6 minutes with all the stoppages in the second half. However, we piled on the pressure and very unlucky not to get a goal to level it only for a great save by the keeper and a follow-up shot coming off the post too. Credit has to go to the coaches Mark Duignan and Kevin Mallon and all the players for their hard work all year and only losing out by a kick of a ball. The team lined out as Sean O’Riordan, Tom Reel, Kieran Reen, Oisin Niblock, Ciarán McGlynn, Odhran Heslin, James Cunningham, Shane Mallon, Brendan Davis, Shane Reynolds, Ryan Cunningham, Jamie Quinn, Ciarán Reynolds, subs used James Doyle, Nathan Ward, Conor Niblock, Cian McNulty

It’s great to see these boys and girls showing great potential and showing off the skills they have acquired. U3 Championship Final – After beating St Bridget’s in our semi final at home which was a very close encounter, we booked our place in the final versus Ballinamore in Cloone last Saturday morning at 12 o’clock. We started the game lively putting over 5 points in quick succession. As Ballinamore settled into the game it was tit for tat for the rest of the half. At half time we went in with a lead 09 to 05. We started the  second half where we left off in the first half and never surrendered our lead for the rest of the game. From start to finish we displayed great team work everyone working for each other all over the field. From our goalkeeper David Liu Doyle kick outs to our fullbacks Luke and Tommy keeping Ballinamore out. Our center half backs George, Jonathan and Nathan defending with real tenacity, our midfield pairing of Jack and Mathew controlled kick outs and set up several attacks. The three center half forwards Adam , Riaghan and Brian won vital ball to set up scores with Adam getting the only goal of the game. Our two inside forwards worked hard, Ultán setting up scores and Noah picking off the scores at vital stages in the game. There was some great free taking on display both from the hands and off the ground. Oisin and Jack played their part when they came off the bench to help out. We also had Aaron, Senan, Brian, Ben, Ollie and Ryan to call on too. We ran out winners on a score line 1-16 to 12 points. This group of lads have put in a huge effort all year and their hard work has paid off in style in winning the U13 championship. Well done to the entire panel and their mentors Tom, Seamus, Ciaran and Richie.
